About this listen
Nerdy Nick's life takes an abrupt turn into surreal chaos when he returns to England to find the mysterious Ronnie Hazelbeach living in his late father's house.
Ronnie has certainly lived an interesting life. He's been a wrestler, a sailor, a thief and a jailbird, a gambler, a husband, a conman, a salesman, a getaway driver, a cook, a priest and much more. James can learn a lot about life from him.
Ronnie hatches a plan to help Nick get his ex-girlfriend back, while selling heart monitors to Monty Python fans and purchasing an extraordinary amount of sinks in a bid to shore up their finances. But just as the unlikely pair find domestic harmony, they are visited by an unwanted guest...
The complete series 1-3 stars Jamie Foreman as Ronnie, Paul Bazely as Nick, Tracy Wiles/Claire Harry as Chloe and John Dougall/Neil Stuke as James.
Written by Caroline and David Stafford
Produced by Marc Beeby

Wonderful hidden gem
I kept seeing this on 4Extra and eventually listened to one episode out of curiosity - and that was enough to persuade me to use a credit, and I'm so glad i did.
It's really hard to categorise this show, as it is a mixture of the mundane and surreal with lightning quick dialogue at times. The best thing in a consistently high level of performances is Jamie Foreman as the eponymous Ronnie Hazelbeach; best known from countess tough guy and unsavoury characters in films like Nil By Mouth and Layer Cake, here he still a somewhat dubious character but with a much softer side though always on the lookout for a scam or swindle.
This was one of very few audiobooks when i was genuinely sad to reach the end, and wished more episodes were made.
