Summary

Stephen Fry brings the richness of these magical stories to life in the original British recordings.

Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.

Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Theme music composed by James Hannigan

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

Pure joy

Really good reading by Stephen Fry. Reads it like a master story teller. Enjoyed the different voices he can do and his pronunciation is spot on. Fantastic

Spellbinding!

When I was younger I used to be a right bookworm, sometimes having up to three books on the go at once. I read the Harry Potter series at the age of about eight or nine and thought it was wonderful. Now as a university student also working four fantastic jobs, sadly I've not been able to do much reading and discovering the Harry Potter series on Audible has allowed me to keep 'reading' whilst doing other things and I've managed to finish this book in under a week.

This is a fantastically read version of the book, Stephen Fry is the perfect choice. I cannot wait to continue the series but whilst I wait for my next credit, I think I'll have to listen to this book again!

The best way to enjoy the genius of JK

With all the nastiness presently thrown the way of this wonderful author, including by the ungrateful cast of the once lauded films, now forever tainted, an audiobook (-or book) has become the only way to enjoy her magnificent work.

Stephen Fry is needless to say outstanding as the narrator...Can't wait to catch the rest of the series.

An enjoyable, if somewhat simplistic, adventure

Enjoyable romp through the first book. Sets up the wider concepts of the wizarding world well, has an enjoyable narrative from start to finish, and gets nostalgia going. Stephen Fry is fantastic as the narrator, an excellent choice.
Only downside is the story isn't as complex and gripping as later tales, however as a self contained narrative it holds up fairly well
