Summary
Being a mum is an incredible journey, a remarkable experience that changes how we look, how we feel, who we are. As mothers we are strong, protective and proud. We feel a love like no other.
But being a parent can be hard, too. It challenges us physically, mentally, emotionally. There are the days where just managing to fit a shower in amidst the endless feeding, entertaining young children and surviving on a lack of sleep feels like an achievement. With so many people ready to offer 'advice' on the best way to parent, it can feel like you are getting it all wrong.
Since Giovanna and her husband, Tom Fletcher, have had their sons, Buzz and Buddy, they have been sharing glimpses of their family life. With an infectiously positive outlook and a happy take on all things mum-related, Giovanna has developed a following of fellow parents and mums-to-be.
This is not an audiobook about how to have the perfect family experience - Gi would be the first to admit she is winging it just as much as the rest of us. Instead it is an honest, upbeat and incredibly personal account of her own experience of having a family.
In Happy Mum, Happy Baby, Giovanna shares her own journey through parenthood, and in doing so she looks at what it is to be a mother today, encourages you to be confident in yourself as a parent and celebrates how putting a focus on being a happy and confident mum can really make for a happy baby.

I am not even a mum yet but this has confirmed everything I hope and wish it will be when it happens! Such a joy to listen to an honest account of day to day with two gorgeous boys. Thank you G!

Funny, heartfelt, honest and relatable
I was initially put off by the title; I thought this would be another one of those books which tell Mothers it's all their fault. One which prescribed recipes for eternally happy babies, who never cry and sleep all night (ha!). I was wrong, it's a lovely, frank, heartfelt account of early Motherhood. I would recommend if for Parents to be and Parents of the under threes.
It's particularly nice when a title is read by its author and Gi does an excellent job of narration.

Lovely and heartwarming
Would you listen to Happy Mum, Happy Baby again? Why?
Yes. I was looking for a genuine story of motherhood, the bad the good, the gritty and the wonderful and that's just what this book is.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Happy Mum, Happy Baby?
I really enjoyed the chapters about her pregancy, births and months after the birth. Her whole chapter thanking her husband was heartwarming.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh and cry.
Any additional comments?
I read some comments about the speed of her reading. It is very quick yes, but you get used to it, however it is very natural and genuine and makes it sound like you are having a chat with her.

Did I write this book?
From very beginning I kept thinking “oh my lord, that’s what happened to me” again and again . She mentions things I’ve never seen discussed anywhere, and it’s so nice to hear someone go through exact same ordeals. Pleasure to listen to !
