About this listen

Angel Daniels grew up hard, one step ahead of the law and always looking over his shoulder. A grifter's son, he'd learned every con and trick in the book but ached for a normal life. Once out on his own, Angel returns to Half Moon Bay where he once found...and then lost...love.

Now, Angel's life is a frantic mess of schedules and chaos. Between running his bakery and raising his troubled 11-year-old half-brother, Roman, Angel has a hectic but happy life. Then West Harris returns to Half Moon Bay and threatens to break Angel all over again by taking away the only home he and Roman ever had.

When they were young, Angel taught West how to love and laugh, but when Angel moved on, West locked his heart up and threw away the key. Older and hardened, West returns to Half Moon Bay and finds himself face-to-face with the man he'd lost. Now West is torn between killing Angel or holding him tight.

But rekindling their passionate relationship is jeopardized as someone wants one or both of them dead, and as the terrifying danger mounts, neither man knows if the menace will bring them together or forever tear them apart.

Lovely second book in Half Moon Bay series

Oh Greg Tremblay... how I love your voice. This was a wonderful story, wonderfully narrated. The story features the characters from Fish Stick Fridays and West and Zig's interactions managed to steal the show.

Yet again, Greg brings Rhys Ford's characters to life. My only quibble is that Greg didn't narrate book one, so Lang already had a voice in my mind - that said, he was a secondary character here and it really didn't take long to get used to him again. That and West and Angel were wonderfully narrated and made the book a really enjoyable listen.

Not a patch on Fish Stick Fridays....

Um, I hate to say it but I didn't think this second chances love story between West and Angel was anywhere near as good as Fish Stick Fridays, which I adored. Nothing wrong with Greg's narration, the story just wasn't as strong as FSF.

highly recommended

Highly recommended.

Great story, action packed; characters with heart, humour and beautiful prose, it can only be a book by Rhys Ford. Loved Angel and West, but once again Ms Ford includes a bunch of secondary characters who add so much to the story. Roman, Zig, Deacon, Lang, Justin and Marzo the bodyguard all are an intrinsic part of the story. I especially loved catching up with Deacon, Lang and Zig from book one. Even though it was obvious who the bad guy was it didn't take away from the story at all. As usual the story started with a bang and there was action throughout, I thoroughly enjoy Ms Ford's style of writing, there is never a dull moment. I highly recommend this, you don't have to listen to the first book in the series, however, it does contain characters who figure largely in this one. Also, you don't want to miss out on another great read. I do hope there's going to be a third in the series. I certainly wouldn't say no to a story about Justin. First class narration from Greg Tremblay, as usual.

Thank you for your review.

I love this book!

Love the narration ,adore Rhyse Ford's work and would love to hear Marzo's story, characters were spot on in their humanity and the descriptive phrases make you feel as though you were there. Couldn't ask for more...perfect!

Another great pairing of Ford and Tremblay

I could listen to Greg Tremblay read my shopping list he is such a good narrator. He handles a large cast of characters with ease and brings Rhys Ford’s words to life. In this story he even has to handle to children’s voices but that is no problem for him. As for the story, it kept me guessing almost right to the end. I had an idea who the bad guy was but I thought maybe I was wrong as the story twisted and turned. As usual the characters were well drawn and I felt they were old friends by the end or in some cases, old enemies. It lost a star because at times I felt the descriptions repeated themselves but I’ll forgive Rhys anything because I love her characters so much. Buy this and you won’t be disappointed.

The EXACT same plot as book #1 with different MC's

What did you like best about Hanging the Stars? What did you like least?

This was a carbon copy of book one with different MC's. The book was predicatable and formulaic and had a huge plot hole carried over from book 1. I knew within the first 30 minutes what was going to happen.

Has Hanging the Stars put you off other books in this genre?

Not at all. Why would it? I love the M/M genre. I just want more from a story than formulaic fluff.

Which character – as performed by Greg Tremblay – was your favourite?

His interpretation of Zig was such fun.

Do you think Hanging the Stars needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. I think Rhys Ford should focus on writing more fantasy. Her fantasy books are amazing. I need more M/M fantasy!
