About this listen

An original novel set in the Halo universe - based on the New York Times best-selling video game series!

The year 2559. Formerly one of the Covenant’s greatest and most fearsome warriors, Arbiter Thel ‘Vadam is now allied with his former human enemies while deeply entrenched in leading the Sangheili people to a new era of unification. But his aspirations are under constant threat, whether by the dangerous, warring factions of rival Sangheili keeps or the relentless shadow of oppression spread by the renegade artificial intelligence Cortana.

An opportunity to break Cortana’s chains has suddenly presented itself through the rumored existence of an ancient artifact located on the hostile world of Netherop. Spartan Olympia Vale, trained with the skills to live and thrive among the Sangheili, also recognizes this alien prize as an essential means to aid humanity in reaching the same goal of freedom. But behind the scenes, both ‘Vadam and Vale are being manipulated by a mysterious figure with their own agenda. And to make matters worse, all involved are unknowingly placing themselves at perilous odds with forces beyond their comprehension....

So much more context now

Seeing as this takes place between Halo 5 & infinite gives you so much more context on why the banished found zeta halo in first place and why they're after things the forerunners could get rid of

Overall brilliant

My deepest respects for Scott Brick who has the phenomenal ability to speak life from the words of pages playing each role with respect it is due keeping me intwined with the story from happy grins to thoughts of unsuspecting dread, your performances for the halo universe do it significant justice and I hope it continues.

The story from Troy Denning filled certain gaps that I was felt desperate for answers and did so spectacularly opening a fascinating galaxy of possibilities the ending gave me the shivers.

Overall Brilliant my sincerest thanks for an incredible experience.

Great story easy listen

Great story that builds on what has come before. Love Spartan Vale and the Aribter back and forth, feels like true military banter

"The kind of gamble that would see you marooned on netherop for over half your life"

That it genuinely suprised by becoming an even bigger halo fan, something I thought impossible.

Yey Arbiter

Generally enjoyable if a little dry at times, the conversations dragged a little and I felt like the Banished didn't do anything, they were just there for... reasons...

excellent lore filler and bringing back up old tales to tie them up nicely.

As always aurthor troy denning and narrater Scott brick have made a master piece. fills in the missing gaps of lore and continuous to expand on the already massive halo universe. I would recommend reading or listening to Troy's earlier works on halo to help identify some of the characters that make a return. all in all I believe Troy's writing and Scott's narration have helped shape the halo universe and I can't wait for more to follow.

A beautiful return to a horrible planet!

The performance by Scott Brick is amazing as always! This story was a beautiful return to a peicce of Halo history. Returning to Netherop and seeing what was left behind was so well done. The story did slow in the middle and became a little frustrating but it was a very well written tale.

Ok, but…………

This book is OK, but definitely not one of the Halo books that you will find yourself listening to again and again between credit day. Love Scott Brick as the narrator 👍🏻
