Fantastic!
I loved this audiobook! But before anything else, I feel it is worth noting that this book could be experienced by itself but is best enjoyed after reading the first book in the series. As an added bonus, there are so many beloved characters the reader/listener gets to revisit when reading the books in order!
Ten years after the first book, a lot had happened to our protagonists and their friends. Dr Donna DeShayne continues to support her crime-solving friends with her forensic psychiatry. Called in to help solve a 21 year old series of murders, Dr Donna has to rely on her incredible deductive powers as well as her friends. There are even issues that were briefly touched upon in the earlier book that are further explored and resolved in this book.
Bella Fayre has a sophisticated way of building the suspense and setting up the mystery which she delicately offsets with a sense of family and community. This makes the story somehow both light and intense, which is a really unusual experience!
Kelley Hazen performed this book superbly. She has a way of taking the narration to the next level. I feel that I am not listening to a book but experiencing an audio performance.
