Persongalleriet er mangfoldigt, det gaelder om at holde tungen lige i munden. Men efterhånden som figurerne udfoldede sig, kunne jeg føle dem, på godt og ikke mindst ondt. For dette er lige så meget en fortaelling om datidens metoder indenfor f.eks.psykiatrien, barnepleje og samfundet generelt. Jeg fik i den grad brug for det meste af følelsesregisteret, for romanen er yderst levende i sine beskrivelser (...) har du endnu ikke laest den, så er her chancen.
