Summary
In this courageous, leading-edge book, Jeff Brown takes us on the spiritual ride of a lifetime. In Part One, we join him on an engaging, often hilarious, and compelling personal journey through decades of tasting from a banquet of spiritual approaches. Through his direct experience, fierce exploration, and scintillating discernment, Brown exposes the fragmented, ungrounded, and dissociative notions of spirituality that have imprisoned our consciousness and obstructed our awakening since time immemorial. In his cuttingly straight style, he reveals that much of what we have been calling "spirituality" is actually a patriarchal, emotionally bereft construct that perpetuates our self-avoidance. He then proves to us - point by brilliant point - that true spirituality is a whole-being awakening that wonderfully embraces our entire human experience.
In Part Two of Grounded Spirituality, Brown engages in a riveting dialogue with an ungrounded seeker named "Michael." Their dialogues unfurl in warmth, humor, playfulness, and personal story, threaded with challenging confrontation and cutting truth. Hands-on exercises are dispersed throughout, providing listeners with a direct experience of a new, inclusive model. Here the author lays down the tracks for a more balanced, heartfelt, and relational spirituality - one that leaves us "enrealed", integrated, and purposeful.

Review by Sofia Livingstone
So much gratitude for the depth of Jeff’s authenticity and radical truth telling that always catapults me to my deep sacred purpose. I know what it takes and I bow in honour at the courage and strength of what Jeff has had to navigate and excavate to create such beautiful and long lasting footprints for me and others to dare to tread. I feel indebted, open hearted and crying for the gifts I receive from Jeffs writing that pours balm on my soul and lights me to sacred action. Jeff and Andrew are my male heroes because they have come down to embrace deep humility and with their compassionate wisdom it melts so much blocked pain and allows me, us to come ‘home’ to myself, ourselves to a sacred heart co-creation thats messy as fuck but fully alive. Thank you to my brothers we do need you so much, bless you for your bullshit detecting so we can see the elephants and name them, this reality wake up call. Eternally grateful xx

Life-altering!!
There is so much wisdom and grounding guidance to be found in this book. I plan to buy a physical copy so I have the exercises written down. The conversation between Jeff and Michael is fascinating and such a beautiful story. I didn’t want it to end but there are so many lessons that I am already applying to my own life! Just read it - it may change your life!

Jeff hits the nail on the head every time, he is a true door opener. thank you for this book Jeff, its so needed, and greatly received. to the reader prepare to get uncomfortable, prepare to come back to earth and grounded spirituality.

Illumination.
As Jeff says, when the student is ready the student will come, I arrived at the most appropriate juncture in my life to listen to this book. He writes with heartfelt truth which I felt reflected my own journey so far. The reading is clear, lucid and convincing. He has led me from confusion about what next to a glimmer of the path I need to tread along my own purpose. Thank you Jeff Brown

A messenger for these times
This is a much needed medicine for humanity at this stage of our evolution. Jeff Brown is pointing out a lot of things many of us have yet dared to speak of and look at. Any author or book that turns you towards yourself and your own empowerment while deconstructing toxic spiritual and cultural myths and distortions and making us more fully embrace our humanness and human messiness and show ways to embrace and heal our trauma are exactly what we need. This is one of the rare author and books. While the book is not perfectly written, the messages, insights and it's transformative and grounded power is. I recommend this for everybody and especially trauma survivors and people who have been on the spiritual path. it's a much needed wakeup call.

Too much waffle
Jack Kornfield's After the Ecstasy the Laundry says it better. Unfortunately like me, this author has fallen into the intellectual ego trap. There's way too much waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle insight waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle insight followed by more...yes you guessed it...waffle.
Much of the insights are expressed within the fictitious or contrived conversation between the author and someone he calls Michael. I say fictitious or contrived because there is no human on the planet who could possibly recall such a lengthy conversation in so much detail, unless it was recorded and there is no mention of it being so. Therefore there is no insignificant amount of poetic licence, embellishment and a whole ton of waffle.
So tired of spiritual authors getting lost in their own musings. Awakening(s), enlightenment (whether it exists or not), lets just call it a wider, deeper, integrated and elevated sense of awareness are by their very nature succinct and devoid of meanderings.

He's got a massive ego
Jeff's delivery is quite unlikeable as his ego makes too many appearances through his speech.
