Summary

Evil comes in beautiful forms....

Lawrence Karrier is the first to see the beauty while out on his morning run.

A solitary thin cloud drifting down from the mountains and settling into the lake, like nothing he has ever seen before. Later in the day as the local factory empties and the bar fills up, the spectacle of a hundred such clouds against the evening sky beguiles the whole town.

That is until someone is unfortunate enough to touch one.

After a night of horror, the people of Gossamer Falls have to pick up the pieces and try to move on. What will they do with the now rock hard cloud formations strewn all over the place? And what of the white liquid that seems to rush around inside each one? Tourist season is almost upon them and without the dollars that brings the town is doomed.

When townspeople start acting very strange, things begin to get very much worse for everyone.

Fantastic story!

Although I read the book first, this story was so good that I loved hearing it retold as well. Excellent narration. This story left me feeling like, "You know what? Something like this could really happen!" Something to ponder on. Highly recommended!

Super Scary story

Beauty can be really scary. When Lawrence sees a candy floss cloud floating above the lake at Gossamer Falls he has no item what the next few days will bring. What starts as a story of small town America in the 1950's with a town bully, a crooked major, the all American sheriff and the town beauty, rapidly becomes a tale of mystery, fear and horror, with a terrifying enemy that there seems nowhere to hide from or escape. A great storyline, The writing is superb, capturing the atmosphere, tension and terror of the situation. Some great shock moments. Loved the characters, real with flaws and courage. I will be watching the skies for any candy floss clouds. The narration was good, the accent suited the story, just lacked a little range to distinguish the characters. I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

Dreadful narration.

The story was okay but at no point was I engrossed. The biggest problems were the narrator, whose monotone voice only varied with the sound quality, which was abysmal. At one point I had to check that there was only one narrator because his voice kept changing halfway through a paragraph. I definitely won’t be listening to anything else performed by this narrator.
