About this listen

Best known as the host of Fox's Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay is one of the most driven, successful, and irate chefs around. He has thrown Hollywood actresses out of his restaurants and is notorious for his anger, but his food has been served to numerous heads of state, and he is one of only three chefs in England whose restaurant is rated at three Michelin stars. In this illuminating work, Ramsay discusses the violent, alcoholic, absent father who died just days after the pair had been reconciled as adults; the best friend and protégé whose bizarre suicide came hours after the two had shared a final meal; the decade-long battle to save his younger brother from heroin addiction and crime; and the real reason why he has not attended the birth of any of his four children. Sometimes hilarious and frequently heartbreaking, this is Gordon Ramsay’s full life, from tenements and poverty to top-notch restaurants and fame.©2009 Neil Simpson (P)2012 Bolinda Publishing Cooking Entertainment & Celebrities Chef Celebrity Restaurant Funny Witty

Good listen

Good listen. Started very well and most of it. But towards the end felt like it was a bit rushed. Never liked the guy until I listened to this. Now lots and lots of respect!

Interesting book - but poor narrator

Whilst the book is interesting the narrator became more and more irritating as the book progressed. Unable to correctly pronounce many words the narrator clearly hasn't done his homework. Strange structure of each sentence will soon have you cringing.

Brilliantly Captivating and Insightful

Brilliantly Captivating and Insightful

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Gordon Ramsay: On Top of The World. It quickly became a part of my daily routine, accompanying me on my commutes to and from work, and I found myself genuinely looking forward to it each day.

The book is incredibly well-written, offering a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of the most remarkable figures in the culinary world. It is also wonderfully narrated, bringing the story to life in a way that feels personal and engaging. As a fan of Gordon Ramsay's TV shows and having dined at several of his restaurants in Ireland and the UK, this audiobook deepened my appreciation for his incredible journey and achievements.

Hearing the story behind his culinary empire and the determination it took to reach the pinnacle of success was both inspiring and humbling. It’s a rare treat to gain such insight into the life of someone who has shaped modern cuisine so profoundly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who admires Gordon Ramsay, is passionate about the culinary arts, or simply enjoys a compelling success story. An absolutely brilliant listen!
