About this listen

Sometimes, the people closest to you can cause the greatest harm. Magic. Hidden agendas. Supernatural creatures. Sibling rivalry.

Enter the Kingdom of Niarg in the first book of the Heart of the Staff Series, a fantasy adventure collection by husband and wife writing team Carol Marrs Phipps and Tom Phipps.

Minuet Dewin, eldest daughter of the wizard Razzmorten, practically raised her half sister Leeuh, who was abandoned by her mother. For many years, Minuet is Leeuh's passionate champion. As time passes, Leeuh becomes increasingly hard to defend as she grows determined to be awful at every turn.

Whilst undoing her dangerous pranks, Minuet finds herself the target of her hatred and jealousy. And when they fall for the same prince, it looks like war.

One day, Leeuh vanishes. She returns years later, compliant and sweet as she always should have been. Minuet is stunned.

Should she trust her, or will it be the very death of her?

Welcome to the world of Niarg!

I have a growing likeness for the narrated medium..I fully understand why so many people prefer it to the written format. Welcome to the world of Niarg. This a fantasy domain inhabited by good and bad wizards and half sisters. A story of deception and sibling rivalry.

What brought this tale to fruition was for me the clarity of the narration. EXCELLENT! Each character, and there are a number of them, came across with clarity and believability. The intonation was clear and concise. There was no difficulty in following the subtleties of the battle between good and evil.

The story is lengthy, which for me was a good thing...I didn't want it to finish.
This is a cracking piece of fantasy..Do not miss out!

Great Story - scarily realistic in todays climate

Overall this is a well written entertaining book. A great read and better listen.
The story, by an acclaimed writing duo of Carol Marrs Phips and Tom Phipps is as usual gripping and fully engaging right from the beginning. They manage to wind reality into this fantasy which draws from every day events. The parallels are starkly drawn for those with eyes to see. Given that the book was written some time ago its opening search for a cure for a virulent illness is so close to home!
Sky Wildmist weaves their story with her magical voice, her quirky characters make us smile. I do wonder how she does some of those
