About this listen

‘The voice of reason for a generation of… mums and dads’ – The Guardian

Wildly popular parenting expert Dr Becky Kennedy shares her groundbreaking approach to raising kids in a way that feels good.

Over the past several years, Dr Becky Kennedy—known to her followers as ‘Dr Becky’—has been sparking a parenting revolution. Millions of parents, tired of following advice that either doesn’t work or simply doesn’t feel good, have embraced Dr Becky’s empowering and effective approach, a model that prioritises connecting with our kids over correcting them.

From reward charts to time-outs, many popular parenting approaches are based on shaping behaviour, not raising humans. These techniques don’t build the skills kids need for life or account for their complex emotional needs. Add to that parents’ complicated relationships with their own upbringings and it’s easy to see why so many caretakers feel lost, burned out, and worried they’re failing their kids.

In Good Inside, Dr Becky shares her parenting philosophy, complete with actionable strategies, that will help parents move from uncertainty and self-blame to confidence and sturdy leadership. Offering perspective-shifting parenting principles and troubleshooting for specific scenarios—including sibling rivalry, separation anxiety, tantrums, and more—Good Inside is a comprehensive resource for a generation of parents looking for a new way to raise their kids while still setting them up for a lifetime of self-regulation, confidence, and resilience.

Another book to share with every parents

I loved the focus to be respecting the kid and yourself. The examples are so useful, I can just use the same words to my daughter and myself.

Everything she says makes so much sense

One of the best books I've read on parenting. She understands kids and people in general so well. This book is full of empathy which this world needs so much. Found every word interesting, easy to understand and very useful. I will read (listen to) it again and will surely recommend to other people.

An important book for everyone, not only parents.

"Good Inside" is an excellent book about parenting, inspiring and full of concrete and practical examples. But it's more than that. Dr. Becky made me really think about my relationship with myself, how I see and talk to myself. Overall, a fascinating and enlightening book for everyone, not only parents and caregivers.

a must read by parents, parents to be, grandparents and even those who don't have kids

This book felt like therapy for my inner child. I realised how I've craved empathy, understanding and help to accept and be with my own feelings while I was a child. I now understand why I find it so hard to regulate my own emotions as an adult and although I want with all my heart and strength to be different and be a better mum to my children and know what I should and shouldn't do, it's a huge ordeal to put into practice on daily life. Now, instead of feeling like a terrible parent and person, I'm trying to implement a good inside perspective when dealing with myself and my children. I fail, I say things I don't want, but I'm still good inside and I try to be focused on improvement and listening to my body. Two things are true ❤️ Dr Becky, you're amazing, thank you so much for writing this. I spent almost 100% of the time I was listening to your book crying my eyes out. I think it was my inner child crying and also my parent self crying. Your words are so soothing for my heart and full of hope. I'm forever grateful for this book. Thank you ❤️

One of the best parenting books recently out

Although I had some trouble getting used to the narrator for the first chapters, her content is so good that I persisted through and now I even bought the physical copy for annotations and perhaps some translation work.

I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to better relate to their children - as a bonus, you'll also be able to better relate to yourself!

After listening to Dr Becky’s podcasts I was keen to try her book. I’ve listened to the entire book in three days and I’m blown away by the practical learnings that I can start to apply as a parent. I will listen to this book over and over as my kids grow up. Forever grateful for Dr Becky writing this book.
