Excellent listen
Really enjoyed this book. It is sad, romantic, tragic - events little unbelievable at times but it hangs together until the end.

Great read
This is such a good read, following the journey of a young lady, who questions what her life is meant to be, and how sadness, fills her with a bravery she never knew she had. Read and enjoy

Did not like the audio - mechanical and monotonous. The story is about mainly loss of mothers and the pain it causes

A novel about the ability to thrive outside of ones original environment
I was recommended this book by other readers who had also loved Where The Crawdads Sing and the two are very alike in their protagonists' relationships with the land where they live and the strength and resilience of their characters. There's a juxtaposition of peace and suffering in both novels. The narration was great in the first person but I really didn't like the vocal characterisation of the other characters dialogue, thankfully there wasn't too much of this to spoil the overall.

Unusual authentic immersive
Unusual, authentic, immersive writing. I will look for more from this author. I couldn’t predict anything which happened and that was a positive aspect of the book.
