About this listen
The year is 1814, and springtime is in full bloom at Pemberley. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have married. But now a new romance is in the air, along with high fashion, elegant manners, scandal, deception, and the wonderful hope of a true and lasting love. Shy Georgiana Darcy has been content to remain unmarried, living at Pemberley with her brother and his new bride and convinced that the one man she secretly cares for will never love her in return. But Georgiana's domineering aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, has determined that Georgiana shall marry, and has a list of eligible bachelors in mind, some sincere, and some pursuing Georgiana for her fortune. Georgiana must learn to trust her heart - and rely on her wit and courage - for she also faces the return of a man who could ruin her reputation and spoil a happy ending, just when it finally lies within her grasp.

Delightful
This is a delightful interpretation of Georgiana and works well as a series of diary entries. Mary Sarah's reading grew more powerful and expressive the further we went into the book. it was my first experience of her unique style and voice and she added a great deal of enjoyment to the unfurling of Georgiana's character. A rewarding experience.

Good story, but let down by the reader
I read this story a while ago and enjoyed it, so thought I’d buy it on Audible. I still enjoyed the story, but I couldn’t get out of my head how much like Moira Rose from Schitts Creek the reader sounds (e.g. pronouncing words like ‘aunt’ as ‘ont’ and saying ‘orfored’ instead of ‘offered’) It is really off-putting.

Most enjoyable
Pleasant, light and entertaining. A welcome escape from the harsh realities of the real world.

Lovely story but...
I have read the book before so was looking forward to the audible version. However the overall enjoyment was marred by the transatlantic a sounds and some odd pronunciations. Eg. Dooty for duty , doobious for dubious etc. Sonnatta for sonata and ‘erb for herb. This was obviously recorded for the American market but even that can’t explain the many odd pronunciations of Aunt!

Beautiful
A beautiful story filled with emotion and uncertainty on the part of Georgiana. The little moments of humour were delightful and the author even manages to make the reader feel sympathy for Caroline Bingley.
The narration was a delight.

A bit irritating
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Not unless somebody else records it again. Having said that the story is great.
What did you like best about this story?
The description Georgiana makes of all the characters involved and how she changes throughout the story
What didn’t you like about Mary Sarah’s performance?
Georgiana's voice is ok though she pauses too much making her speech sound unnatural. Colonel Fitzwilliam always sounds as if he is telling others off.

Narrator has a strange accent
The narrator has adopted a British accent but with strange intonations in places... like ‘ont’ instead of ‘aunt’. I found this annoying at times. However, the story line was good.

love the story, not the narrator
the narrator is an American attempting an English accent and the mispronunciations are rather jarring - if you can get past that, the story is good and worth a listen
