About this listen

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry comes a second-chance small-town romance.

Talia Eden loved Foster Madden for one year, two months, and eleven days. It was on day 438 that her love died. The day he chose to marry her best friend. The day she vowed never to think of Foster again.

Until years later, when he has the audacity to show up in her small hometown of Quincy, begging for her help.

The ink on his divorce papers is barely dry, yet he comes armed with apologies and promises. She knows it’s all a ploy. Foster is the king of games and secrets. But he’s got delusions the size of Montana if he thinks she’ll help him train for a world championship fight.

Except Talia has forgotten exactly what made Foster famous. The man has dedicated his life to victory. He’s steadfast. He’s determined. And he won’t stop fighting until he’s won her heart.

It has taken me a couple of goes to listen and read this book. the plot is a but weak in comparison to the previous two books in the series. I will try to read the other two...

Loved this book

This was a reread for me so I think 4.5/5 is my score because I pictured some of the voices different. I love the writing style and the story, however I prefer the first 2 books.
A great listen and I absolutely love the MMC! SWOON!

Love this second chance story!

I love Talia and Fosters story!!
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the female narration, it was too Nasal and I didnt feel it suited Talia or her description.

On the fence

So the first time I read this book I really didn't enjoy it. Doing this reread as part of a buddy read with a friend who is reading this series for the first time has given me a new/different perspective/experience of this book. Talia & Foster dated in college and were madly in love, they knew they were each other's endgame... until they weren't and this story picks up 7 years down the line with Foster crashing back into Talia's life determined to get her back.

Second chance romances can be hit or miss for me and I'm left with mixed feelings about this one because although I understand the WHY behind their split and all that comes with that, I personally would struggle to get past that hurt if I were Talia, so as much as I was rooting for them my conflicted feelings made accepting them moving forward difficult. Also Vivian is an awful, selfish example of a friend and needs a kick to the cooch in all honesty, especially with what she asks Foster to do towards the end.

I can't/don't want to say much more because no spoilers but what I will say is I enjoyed Fosters determination to win Talia back and his bone deep want and love for her is definitely evident from his actions, does he do dumb shit... yes. But he is human so it's to be expected. I do wish Talia had made him grovel a bit more as like I said I personally wouldn't have been able to move past it as easily as she seemed to. The epilogues were cute and I liked the way the story ended so I'm stuck in the middle on this one. The narrators were great, this was my first Cindy Kay book and I enjoyed her performance, Connor is a favourite of mine, his voice is like velvet and I always enjoy listening to him. 🌶🌶

This book made me fall in love with Second Chance Romance!!

I am loving The Edens series so much! 😍 I didn’t know what to expect from Talia’s story as we only got a small introduction to her character in the first few books, but I loved her so much in Garnet Flats!

I love a redemption story and the “it was always her” trope! I loved how Devney wrote it in real-time. It was realistic and emotional. It wasn’t an immediate reunion. Talia made him work for it and I think that made me love her more. She had built up thick walls around her heart, and I really liked how Devney developed her character. She didn’t allow Foster to bulldoze his way back into her heart. No, it was very respectful and one brick at a time kind of thing. It felt like an emotional slow-burn, which made you celebrate so much more when she finally let her walls down!

I was rooting for Foster from the very start. I really liked how Devney portrayed his character; you knew he messed up but you also loved him at once. He wore his heart on his sleeve and I loved his determination to get Talia back. We saw his heartbreak and sacrifice. His loyalty and love for Talia and Kadence. Swoon! 😮‍💨

I’m obsessed with all the Edens and I can’t wait to read Jasper Vale next! 😍

Not the best in the series

Rather far-fetched and a bit cringe. it's like the author ran out of ideas and stumbled through an area she knows nothing about. Prefer the others in this series.

Annoying and confusing

I really liked the series so far. This is my least favorite. The Initial conflict, which could have been solved in one chapter/one conversation was stretched along the entirety of this book- it was extremely annoying. Really hoping the next one is better.
The male narration was great but the female narration was abysmal at best.

had to DNF

First DP one in the series I had to DNF.
I realised I can't handle second chance romance and internal based miscommunication, especially when it's basically the entire book.
i dnf'd in chapter 4 as I couldn't handle either the MMC or FMC. She needed a spine and he needed to grow a pair of ovaries and actually communicate, and not when the story was set but years ago. drove me up the wall
Narrators were fine. I think the issue people might have is the speed they listen at.
