Fun sci fi romp
I hadn't listened to the first book, so I went in blind and I didn't find it too hard to pick up the story. What I found was a fun sci fi story with likeable characters and genuine growth to them throughout the book. I haven't read too many books about clones and I liked the ideas portrayed in this book, I found them very interesting. Madeline Stewart does a good job of getting the story across, and I will be very interested about seeking out more of M.R. Richardsons work.

A great story
Overall I enjoyed this book, the characters are like able, the story is paced nicely with the story telling broken up with action scenes. The story had enough twists in it to keep you guessing all the way through and the narration was done to a high standard. This felt different to alot of the books that I have read/listened to and after a slow start I really enjoyed it.
Please note that I was given a free copy of this audiobook to provide a non-biased review

It frustrated so much I couldn't even finish it...
I truly enjoy my Science Fiction and I'm not averse to a slice of Pulp Sci-Fi either. I've been known to look for PKD books that have arrived online past their cut off date (Thank you Project Gutenberg). These stories have been read by narrators who don't consider Audiobook Narration as a career. However here with Galactic Mandate, which comes in at just under six hours, I honestly couldn't make it to the end. I just had to stop listening to it.
Not only does M.R. Richardson's story feel bashed together, so bashed it's beyond pulp, but our narrator (Madeline Stewart) seems to have turned up in the morning without taking a glance at the pages beforehand.
You find yourself listening to not only bad Science Fiction, but bad Science Fiction being delivered by a person who fails to make any of this dross engaging or the characters in anyway standout so you can at least latch on to somebody or something. It's painful and you find yourself not wanting to click play on Audible as you know you've got to listen to more of Galactic Mandate.
Perhaps though I'm being overly harsh. Perhaps Madeline Stewart had read the book before and realised nothing could be done with the source material. All I know is Galactic Mandate: The Scream is not a good Audiobook and I will not be recommending it to anyone.
As a side note I took to a FB group of fellow Audible fans to ask what to do here, as I've never yet 'not finished a Audible book' and I was unsure if I should even review it. They were unaware of the title (I didn't supply that) but suggested that I give my honest review and backed me up on not finishing the book if it was really as bad as I described.
N.B. This book was provided for free from Audiobook Boom as long as I provided an honest review.
