About this listen
Are you tired of just paying bills until you die? Are you wasting your life at a job that doesn't make you fulfilled or financially secure? Then Future Proofing You is for you.
In this life-changing book, celebrated author and entrepreneur Jay Samit, who's worked with such visionaries as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Reid Hoffman, and hundreds of successful entrepreneurs, shares the key understandings and step-by-step process for becoming rich and never needing another job again. To prove the power of his Twelve Truths, Samit also details the journey of how he mentored a broke millennial with these principles and empowered him to go from being on welfare to becoming a self-made millionaire in one year.
Building upon the principles in his internationally acclaimed book Disrupt You!, Samit explains: how to identify an idea and market to start your business; how to build a virtual company with little or no capital; the latest free software tools for managing your business; ways to get a piece of a trillion-dollar opportunity bigger than mobile; how to harness the three primary fears of others to generate more sales; strategies for finding the right mentors to accelerate your success; and techniques to structure any deal for creating recurring revenue and lasting wealth.

Practical, clear and motivating
I've listened to each chapter as one should a lesson. I've never wanted to hurry this because it is so full of useful gems. In fact, I've downloaded the workbook and will complete it. I'm excited to have this resource at the start of 2022. It is going to be an exciting year, I just know!

Platitudes
I didn't really come away feeling inspired or enlightened after listening to this book. There were some highlights but frankly, not too many.

A nice book however,
It's a pretty decent book however, it's pretty much a one grand (significantly lacking details) story with a bunch of several other mini consolidated stories/interviews with minimal commentary/actionable steps afterwards.

Gave up reading. Unrelatable.
I feel like the author really underestimates the privilege that comes with being a white man. I would have been much more impressed if he'd have done it with a woman or a person of color who spends their lives coming across barriers that don't exist for white men. For those people it isn't just a matter of "mindset" the barriers are real. Look at how low the stats for angel investment are given to women Vs men. Not to mention the "mindset of believing you can become millionaire" is in of itself a privilege, where did he get that mindset from exactly? As described in the book he looked at Mark Zuckerberg and felt inspired because he saw himself in Mark, another white man. Representation is important and being able to see yourself in the shoes of someone who is successful is critical. Seeing nobody successful who looks like you is also very impactful. So the authors starting point that they "only had to believe it was possible" is ALREADY a barrier to people who dont have role models to look up to who are like them.
Comments shared from a highly successful millenial woman who has over had to overcome decades of barriers that don't exist for men and found this book totally unrelatable. You really want to impress me with this method? Make a black woman a millionaire.
