Das erzählt Ferdinand Ries, Komponist, Pianist und einer der besten Freunde Beethovens in den Biographischen Notizen über Ludwig van Beethoven, die er zusammen mit Franz Gerhard Wegeler 1838 veröffentlichte, 11 Jahre nach dem Tod des bärbeißigen Komponisten.
Seine Geschichten sind witzige Erinnerungen aus allererster Hand, damit aber nicht genug: Es gibt keinen Beethoven-Biographen, der nicht von Ferdinand Ries abgeschrieben hätte. Hier nun das Original, vorgelesen von einem, der als "Erfinder des Rheinlands" (Jürgen Becker) gilt und der in der Musik zu Hause ist wie kaum ein anderer.
