About this listen
Did you know that Pac-Man has the exact same plot as the second Hellraiser film? Do you know the connection between a cassette tape and a Biro? Were Love Hearts the 80s version of Tinder?
All these questions and more are answered as we meander through the cul-de-sacs and leafy boulevards of Memory Lane, discovering things like:
Were Funny Feet the ice cream version of those awful pink foam candy prawns?
Did we really have to wait a week to see the photographs we'd taken on holiday?
Did the little string hanging out of the back of your digital alarm clock actually pass as an aerial?
This tongue-in-cheek look at all the iconic, memorable, and not-so-great things we grew up with in the 1980s will make you laugh, cry, and possibly even re-evaluate your life choices. At the very least, it'll make you fire up ebay to go buy a vintage Mr. Frosty to see what you missed out on.

The 1980's
This is a very amusing, well written nostalgic look back at the 1980's. A little after my time as a child but still relatable. It's punchy and interesting from start to finish, highly recommended listen. Peter McGiffen's narration was brilliant for this book, he injected humour and warmth to the story as it unfolded.

What a time to be a kid!
Fantastic to reminisce about so many good things from my childhood and some of those that perhaps weren't so good, but we loved them anyway!
Enjoyable humorous style of writing and nicely read, I found myself agreeing with the author on so much, particularly the awful Turkish Delight, yuk!

Nostalgia in so many ways
This certainly took me back to a decade of time I fondly remember with romantic nostalgia. So much to recall and enjoy - not just He-Man and Pac-Man. Only from my own personal love of the 80s I wish some nod had been given to Christmas singles (maybe the coveted Christmas number ones) and the 'talented' Roland Rat.

Genuinely funny and relatable
Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of this book. free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
Being born in the 70s means I grew up, and was shaped by the 80s and have very find memories of my youth. There've been many books and tv shows casting back to this most fantastic of decades, but this is the only audio I've encountered and, I'm pleased to say. it's really good.
Rather than reading like a retrospective tale, this is a nicely laid out series of bullet points, with a subject (lets say TV show) and then a series of entries in this subject, each of which contains whimsical, well written and (in most cases) extremely true insights into what this meant to those of us who lived through this time.
Its a short book, just short of 4 hours long but is jam packed with fun and memories, all brilliantly delivered with humour and honesty. I did notice a number of things that meant so much to me as an 80s kid were missing from the list, but that is find as this is a journey through our own nostalgia and it made me reminisce over all the missing things with a big smile.
Fun, insightful and full of warmth, I really enjoyed this little BMX-ride down memory lane.

From He-Man to Pac-Man.
A fun listen that jogged my memory of the good and the bad of the 80s. This was not your typical sugar-coated nostalgia trip back to the 1980s. Nuttall is more than happy to poke fun at the decade, and rightly so! I was laughing along with the book, and reminded of some gems too.
The narration suited the text well, he got the tone just about right. I'd look for more audiobooks by these two.
