About this listen

The supernatural community in Bon Temps, Louisiana, is reeling from two hard blows: the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the manmade horror of the explosion at the vampire summit in the up-north city of Rhodes.

Sookie Stackhouse is safe but dazed, and she's yearning for things to get back to normal. But that's just not happening. Too many vampires - some friends, some not - were killed or injured, and her were-tiger boyfriend Quinn is among the missing. It's clear that things are changing, whether the weres and vamps like it or not. And Sookie, Friend to the Pack, blood-bonded to the leader of the local vampire community, is caught up in those changes.

She's about to find herself facing danger and death and, not for the first time, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood has stopped flowing, Sookie's world will be forever altered.

Bridging story but good nonetheless

No full story ark and ft more like a scene setter for the next tranche of books. Still enjoyable though :-)

Plenty of drama

If you could sum up From Dead to Worse in three words, what would they be?

action, drama, danger

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last few paragraphs with Hunter.

Any additional comments?

Another great instalment of Sookie Stackhouse drama. Sookie once again shows her strength and rescues her friends when they get into trouble. A distant relative enters her life and she doesn’t quite know how to deal with it. Looking forward to the next book.

From dead to Worse

This is book 8 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Family secrets are the theme of this novel. Trouble is brewing among the vampires and werewolves, meaning that Sookie will almost certainly be dragged in too. Another great addition to a great series.

A great series of stories

The main character, Sookie Stackhouse, has adventures that are life changing, and keeps right on going. So does the series, and I intend to keep on listening to further stories in the series. I suggest starting at the first one. Not so much urban fantasy as small town America fantasy, with vampires as sort of US citizens. Great fun!

loving these

I'm enjoying these books, I'm only stopping reading to sleep or if I have to be social, its frustrating.

I love the end of this one.

Very entertaining

This book is very entertaining and I could not stop until I had read the whole book. I loved the mix of characters and the plot of the book. You can listen to the book whilst basking in the sun in the park or whilst taking a walk. Absolutely beautiful.

A ripping yarn...

I have read the entire series of Charlaine Harris's Bon Temps serial, (well, devoured would be more accurate) therefore, it was nice to re-visit the story at the narrator's pace. Johanna Parker brings the story to life, lifting the animated southern characters off the page and into your home, it's a joy to listen to.
