Summary
Historian Douglas Brinkley's new book about Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath is The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Brinkley was one of the residents of New Orleans displaced in the hurricane. He left the city just after the hurricane hit but returned to help with rescue efforts and began documenting the catastrophe, collecting oral histories immediately. Brinkley teaches at Tulane University. (Broadcast Date: May 10, 2006)
