 Journalist Marc Sandalow and author Daniel Mendelsohn, on this edition of Fresh Air. Marc Sandalow is the Washington Bureau chief for the San Francisco Chronicle. He'll tell us all about Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, who stands to become the first female Speaker of the House, now that the Democrats have taken control of congress following yesterday's mid-term elections. Pelosi represents California's 8th district, which covers most of the city of San Francisco. She's held the post since 1987. Then, Daniel Mendelsohn, whose new book is The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million. As a child, old Jewish relatives told stories of family members killed in the Holocaust. Medelsohn undertook a worldwide search for surviving members of his family's town. In his investigation of what happened to his great uncle's family, Mendelsohn discovered letters from the family begging their relatives in the U. S. to help them get out of their Ukranian town.
