Excellent work
This is an amazing book. Not only for non masons, but as well for masons them selves. I am a Freemason from Wales and Latvia. The author managed to explain a lot of difficult questions. Like Freemasonic history and the conspiracies around it. Excellent explanation of different orders and how they are affecting the whole Freemasonry. Superb and simple explanation how the lodges are organised. I am very happy I bought this book

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
This is great. Finally something that fills in some of the blanks such that "Joe Public" isn't left having to concoct bizarre theories to fill them. Great breadth and surprising depth in a style that's easily understandable to those starting from scratch.

Understanding the basics
I found it informative to understand the basics. However, it is American focus, so you need to keep an open mind. One chapter, later on in the book, lost me and I was concerned I would loose interest and concentration to complete the book. The chapter was about all the various societies that have been created and most seem to be in America. Thankfully, I stuck with the book and got back into it. It is a good starting point but if you think it's going to reveal secrets of ceremony within a Lodge, then think again but it does tell you why. I certainly gained basic knowledge and generally found is very interesting.

Full of facts
Was unsure about purchasing this book but from the first chapter it fascinated me. So much information on the history of England, Scotland France and America. The sight down side is that it's very American oriented but if you can get passed that you should love it.
The author has done a good job of giving loads of information but without giving away the secrets of Freemasonry.
Think that it's one I will be listening to again.

I am overall disappointed with this book.
Although Very Informative with particular interest in the history I found the narrator very robotic and at times slightly irritating as it sounded too automated with no variation in tone, speed or intonation. The book is clearly centered around the USA and as usual they seem to be claiming ownership. However it is still worth listening too as a good source of knowledge.

Really interesting...
As someone that's considering joining the masons I found this book to be really interesting and it's helped me make up my mind.
It outlines the values and culture of the masons and debunks a lot of the myths.
Its interesting, funny, and also heart warming in parts.
I found it to be well written and enjoyed the narration.
