Summary
The only kinds of luck I knew were bad and worse...until my life hung in the balance. I finally caught a break in the form of a second chance.
I vowed not to let it go to waste.
To make a difference.
But I didn’t start really living until I met him.
Dillon Montgomery.
My complete opposite - except for our matching tortured souls.
I couldn’t resist him for long.
How could I when his smallest touch made my heart race?
When it felt like we were destined to be together?
But sometimes luck and sorrow are intertwined....
Fortuity is the first part of Faith and Dillon’s story, which will be completed in Serenity.

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 Heartfelt & Moving!
I loved everything about this book, from how well it is written to the wonderful storylines and characters Rochelle Paige created. This book captured both my attention and my heart right from the start and held it straight to the end. The characters are complex and well developed, they are likable and easy to relate to. Faith never had an easy life, raised by a single Mom who couldn’t care less about her, at twelve she was placed in foster care without the luck of being placed in a loving home. She learned to get by on her own without the love and the care, she even turned out to be a remarkable young lady. When she falls ill and the foster parent neglected to get her medical treatment she reached out to her case worker for help. She took her to the doctor and they learn how sick she is. Hospitalized with kidney failure she catches the heart of the staff and they are all rooting for her. When she gets back on her feet she gets placed in a loving home and has a brighter look on life. She gets into college, volunteers to help other foster kids get on track for their futures too. She catches the eye of a philanthropist who wants to help her cause and give funds to the foster kids to help pay expenses. Which is how she winds up meeting Dillon, Dillon is a bit lost in life and his mother thinks it would do him good to spend some of his time doing charitable work with Faith. I loved these two together, they are great together and for each other. This story mesmerized me, it is plotted out nicely and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, emotional and heartfelt moments. I am loving Faith and Dillon’s love story, it has fallen into a woven web of twists and turns, I am looking forward to see what happens next in the second part of the duet. Rochelle Paige, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Mackenzie Cartwright and Jason Clarke are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Such a beautiful story
Oh how my heart hurts for Faith. Such a strong woman. This book is written so very well. I can’t wait to see what happens next, I’m hoping for a well deserved HEA for Faith. Fantastic performance from both Mackenzie and Jason.

Sometimes you just need a little Faith...and Dylan
I was not prepared for the emotional turmoil at the start of this book! The story starts when Faith is a little girl and quickly jumps from ages 5 to 12 to 17 with snippets of her unfortunate life so far. But I held on because with a title like Fortuity I had faith (pun intended) that Rochelle Paige would give me the good stuff, and she definitely delivered. This book was the perfect length for my mood and I am glad that Rochelle Paige derided them up in to two shorter books.
This was a solid 3.5 star read for me, but the narration was so enjoyable that I am rounding up to 4 stars.
Mackenzie Cartwright and Jason Clark are so great together. I wish this book had more of Jason, but what we did get was gravely and needy and Dylan is infatuated with Faith. I wouldn't consider this insta-love but it feels close. It is a very intense first love that is so enjoyable to read. This book has low angst, with a few twists and turns. The cliffhanger at the end had me shouting at Audible "No" because I didn't think they were going to go "There" but they did and I was a little shocked.

Emotional and oh so good!
I wasn’t looking for a book like this. You know the one that pulls you in, and invests your heart. Rochelle Paige has started this duet off, introducing Faith. She has had a tough life, and do to neglect, her health has suffered. Now with the help of a good mentor in the Foster Care placement system, she is in college and ready to start her life. As a freshman, she knew who Dillon was, but now that his mother is helping her with her cause, their paths cross. What is the draw that pulls them together? Their chemistry is palpable. But something is about to happen that will change everything. This story is had me from the start. Faith is a girl that we read about but don’t want to think really exists. Her childhood is horrible! She shows that no matter your circumstance, you can pull yourself up and get yourself together if you align with good people. Dillon is hard to get a hold on. He has a deep hurt that effects everything he does, but there is something about Faith that is helping him heal. It’s a start that has me waiting for book two and left me wondering what is going to happen.
The narration of this book is key. Just the right amount of emotion and compassion needs to flow through this performance and the team pulls it off without a hitch. Mackenzie Cartwright and Jason Clarke tell us this story with ease. They key into Faith and Dillon and find their inner emotions, giving them to us and making us feel. An amazing performance and look forward to book two of this duet.

Beautiful young adult story
This is a beautifully written poignant book- the heroine really does embody the idea of being a hero because even though she had a horrible past, she rose to success. She never gave up and Faith (a perfect name for her) was such a strong character that I followed her story hopefully and happily as good things came into her life. Dillon, on paper, was privileged but the reader learns, over the story, that there’s more to the story than what it looks like. I loved how these two interacted with each other, with love. They were supportive. But this does end in a cliffhanger and the only thing I didn’t like about this story is how short it was!
Jason Clarke’s voice? Perfection. He has this deep, raspy voice that draws in a listener. And, with this character, someone deeply flawed and hurt, it was perfect. He also did an amazing job with other characters, including female voices. HOW does he get his voice so high in a natural way!? And he can switch between different voices absolutely seamlessly. Mackenzie Carthwright, also, is amazing- great voice for Faith. She did a good male voice too which I was amazed at- it didn’t sound forced at all. Overall, this narration absolutely elevated the story and I will be listening to this story again.
