Summary
This is Claudia Winters’s last chance for a fresh start. Changing her name and leaving her old life behind, she has fled to the small town of Kesterly with her mother and daughter. Here, she hopes they can be safe for the first time in years.
But the past can’t stay hidden forever. And even as Claudia makes new friends and builds a new life, she can’t help feeling it’s all about to catch up with her… Until one disastrous night changes everything forever.
Tense, emotional and gripping, Susan Lewis’s latest novel is a spellbinding story of love, family, and the price of forgiveness.

I zoned out halfway through.
This book is one you keep reading, just in case!
When two vastly different worlds collide, the impact is life-changing. Archie, hailing from a council estate, finds himself running errands for his Uncle BJ, none of which are pleasant. Forced to comply with BJ's blackmail over his mother, Archie has no choice but to follow his orders. Typically, these errands involve dealing with drugs until, one day, he's tasked with retrieving a briefcase from a rural house. After surveilling the property and attempting to break in, he returns empty-handed. His next assignment is to set the place alight.
Confident that everyone has gone out for the evening, Archie embarks on the task. Little does he know someone has returned, and their lives are about to be turned upside down in ways they could never have imagined.

Gave up with about 3 hours to go.
Story started off ok, but got more boring as it went on, and the protagonist got more and more annoying. I couldn't even be bothered to find out how it ended.

Narration
Loved the story, nothing too complicated but still enjoyable. However it wasn’t the narration by Sam Newton that clinched it for me. Loved how well he spoke his part and made the character real.
I’ve never listened to a 2 people narrative before and I have to say it was brilliant. Laura Kirman voiced each person brilliantly and I knew who was talking straight away. Loved her voice for Marcia.
