About this listen
SAM: I hate my hometown. But whether I like it or not, I’m back. Putting me face-to-face with all the reasons I left, including the forking family I’ve been avoiding for years. What I don’t expect to find in Fork Lick?
The woman who upended my world last year. Making videos with my grandmother.
DIANE: I know what I’m hiding. But the guy I left in bed after a steamy one-night stand…I haven’t a clue what’s going on behind those Clark Kent glasses of his. I’ve met his goofy dog Gomer, his social media-obsessed grandmother, and his sheep that lives in a palace. I know he wears a three-piece suit and a flannel shirt equally well–not to mention what he looks like underneath. I know he abruptly quit his job at that evil conglomerate.
Because of something I said. What I can’t figure out is why he avoids his adorable, hilarious family. Or why he steers clear of their picture-perfect farm. Or what’s so wrong with cute-as-a-button Fork Lick. I never felt at home in the Manhattan penthouse where I grew up, but I love everything about this tiny town. Including… Sam.
Problem is, no matter what his secrets are, mine are definitely worse.

Fun addition to this romcom series
Karen Grey's romances are always a treat for me as a nostalgia loving lady that likes call backs to growing up. Sam and Diane? A classic couple name for me!
For Fork's Sake is the third novel in the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series, and this time Sam Bedd is the one to fall in love. Sam's relationship with his family is strained, but underlying is so much love and caring for each other, even if they don't always understand him. His happily-ever-after with Diane started months ago with a one night stand, but to Diane, Sam represents everything that she is advocating against. Luckily Sam and Diane are able to sort out their differences, and Sam finally opens up to his family and starts mending fences. Along the way, we have some fun, lots of heart, and some steam to keep you warm at night.
The audio, narrated by Erin Mallon and Alistair Haynesbridge, really puts you right inside the story. You can feel Sam's pain of being the odd-man out within his family, and Diane's confusion with the assumptions that she made vs the man she knows Sam to be. Highly recommend the audio!

Sam & Diane!
There are some series that I listen to and enjoy, and then there are others that I become invested in. This is one that I am completely in on and have been enjoying each one. The third book of the Farm 2 Forking series is written by Karen Grey and it's wonderful. It features Samuel Bedd, the one who feels like he doesn't belong. He carries a secret that has weighed him down, but now he's back and little does he know what he is in for. Diane is his twin sister, Colleen's friend and she is on the farm too! The one night stand months before that he cannot get out of his mind. Seeing her there has thrown him a bit, and while there is chemistry between them, something about the two is keeping them apart. A difference in values? Plus Sam is finding out just why he may be different. Grey takes a look at what truly makes a family. The siblings are beginning to med fences, find their way to what is important. The look into neurodivergence, a fun time with trivia and a dog that is smarter than a whip all added to the incredible story!
Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon continue their narration of this series and I love them together. Continuity with characters from book to book and the ability to create characters that are spot on for their personalities is a talent that shines with them. Haynesbridge as Sam has brings to life all his qualities and makes him real. Mallon is Diane, harboring a secret and it's always in the back of her mind as her voice works through all her feelings. They are fabulous together!

4.5 Stars!
As the first sentence of the synopsis says “a Grumpy-Sunshine, One-Night Stand, Rivals-to-Lovers, Steamy Romcom” … and it did not disappoint!
It’s Sam’s time to shine! For Fork's Sake is book 3 in the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series. They can all be read as standalones, but they are better read in order as there is information that connects all 5 books. And, the events do happen consecutively, with some events overlapping. Our couple here – Sam and Diane – initially meet face-to-face one night when both are travelling for work. After connecting, they end up spending the night together. The next morning things take a turn when they both find out some crucial information that has them turning on each other. Months later, they both end up back in Sam’s hometown of Fork Lick where they continue to clash until the close proximity forces them to drop their defences and get to know each other more.
This was such a hilarious and fun read! I loved the hate-to-love/rivals-to-lovers tension that Sam and Diane brought. They had such great chemistry. I also enjoyed the exploration of Sam’s character/personality. He always felt different and that he didn’t belong anywhere, especially on his family’s farm. I enjoyed getting to know him more and why he thinks the way he does. Sidenote: I also loved the neurodivergent rep. Also also, I loved the found-family aspects of this book and how Diane bonded with Sam’s grandmother and the rest of the Bedd family. This book was an all-around good time. If you love a grumpy-sunshine, rivals-to-lovers romance with some one-night stand trope thrown in … pick this up, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
Erin Mallon and Alistair Haynesbridge were delightful with their duet narration in this. They were both able to capture the essence of Sam and Diane’s personalities perfectly. Their performances brought forth all the emotions and nuances required to fulfil their roles, and they added more fun to the story.

🍎one night stand

For Fork’s Sake is the third book in the Farm 2 Forking series. This series is such a fun series. This is Diane and Sam’s book. Sam has never felt like he belonged anywhere, especially at his grandparents' farm. He always thought differently than his entire family and including most people. He went to college and got his degree to try and help the world. He got hired by a big seed testing company that was more worried about their pocketbooks than the agriculture development and survival of crops. Diane may have grown up wealthy, she has found her passion in a nonprofit seed trading and her blog about farming and home-grown crops. Sam and Diane met nine months earlier and had an amazing night. They instantly connected and were extremely attracted to each other. That next day changed their career paths for the better. So glad they were able to come back together.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge did a fantastic job narrating this book

Sweet Grumpy/Sunshine Romance!
This book is part of the Farm 2 Forking series, a small town romantic comedy. This is a multi-author series. I read it, and loved it. The audiobook version is great! I liked this short, and sweet grumpy/sunshine romance. Sam and Diane's story is fun, passionate, and entertaining, filled with angst, miscommunication, and secrets. They are both interesting characters. Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon. I enjoyed it. I highly recommend this series!
