She never misses a target. But unless she can solve this murder, she’ll become one....
Chicago World’s Fair, 1893. “Little Sure Shot” Annie Oakley is exhausted from her work with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. And when the heckler is found dead under the Ferris Wheel, Annie won’t rest until she proves her defender is innocent.
Before she can rustle up any clues, an old friend asks Annie to protect her young daughter. And as more bodies turn up around the grounds, she’s going to need all her sharpshooting skills just to stay alive.
Can Annie live up to her reputation and put a bullseye on the killer?

Brilliant Series
Annie is back on her Wild West adventure discovering another murder mystery which needs to be solved. This one is different of course as we know how Annie’s personal life finished at the end of the last Annie is left with looking after a friends daughter. The prologue was quite long on this one but was very much needed as brutal as it was. This author has an exceptional way of making prologues brutal before taking on Annie’s next adventure.
I didn’t like how exhausted Annie was and I didn’t approve of the way Frank was a bit more dominating in this one even though he had Annie’s best interests at heart. So glad that most of my favourite characters were still in this read too. Cannot believe Annie is only 24 still.
I don’t think I’ve noted until now but Kari does an amazing job at capturing the historical elements in all of her books. Just like all of the books so far my fondness for Annie grew more. I’ve never heard of the Chicago worlds fair before so this was lovely to do my own research into. I can imagine being there. Now the target is back on Annie I was curious whether this mystery world be solved.
There was plenty of twists and turns in this one which still were so unexpected. I loved the flashbacks to the past so if you read this as a stand-alone you get an idea of Annie’s adventures so far. How many deaths can one woman encounter. I hope this isn’t the last of the series as I’m not ready to finish this series. This series has given me a massive insight to life in the western years. If you haven’t given this series a listen to or read I’d definitely recommend them.
