About this listen

Book One in the Jack Of All series!

In a world ravaged by the devastating arrival of the squid, status and age no longer matter. Everyone fought, and the war was still lost.

Burke, a veteran of the squid invasion, is facing a new enemy: age. All he wants is to get through the remainder of his days without any trouble, but the world is unforgiving and peace is a distant memory.

Arvin, Burke's neighbor and friend, is losing himself. Once a powerful wizard, he has become a danger to those he cares about most.

Charlie, a girl born after the squid invasion, knows only loss and fear. Her mother and best friend were killed, and every time the lights go out, she hopes she's not next.

But hope is as dead as her mother.

The squid are evolving. Where light was once a death sentence, it now serves as a mere obstacle in their relentless pursuit of food and corpses.

Wonderful Storytelling

I’ve never read science fiction or dystopian stories before but I was recommended Flipside and I decided to get the audiobook and I was blown away. The genre doesn’t matter, if you’re a great storyteller you’re great storyteller and this is a great story. The character building and the evolution of the character relationships keeps you gripped throughout, and this is magnified further by listening to Leumas’ narration, which is amazingly soft on the ears and brings out the personalities and also the humour in the characters. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly to any reader, I can’t wait to read any potential follow up, and I would listen to anything that he lends his voice to

Gripping

Fantastic. A storyline that drags you closer and narration that brings the characters to life around you. Would recommend to anyone, it's definitely one of my new favourites, and one I will listen to again.
