About this listen

A media billionaire’s daughter disappears following a massacre at a Belfast student party and nobody knows if she has been kidnapped or caught in the crossfire.

A controversial new abortion clinic is firebombed, and a fire-and-brimstone church movement is blamed.

Hired to both find the missing daughter, and prove the church’s guilt, Dan Starkey suddenly finds himself struggling to cope with two very different investigations...or could they possibly be connected?

Thoroughly enjoyable, up to a point

An extremely enjoyable story, great characters, very good narration, such a shame he didn't know how to finish it.

Loved it.

Colin Bateman can't go wrong, especially when narrated by Adam Moore. Great story and engaging narration.

irritatingly amusing

Dan starkeys character has got to be the irritating human being! I would have to shoot him too. He really is the most facetious crass idiotic personality!

Absolutely brilliant

I love Dan Starky. And I love the performance by Adam Moore. Really brings it to life.

It’s a great series by Colin Bateman. Looking forward to the next one.

Hilarious...again

Hilarious. I stumbled across The Dan Starkey stories quite by accident and love them. A fabulous mix of suspense and black humour all set in the Northern Irish provinces. I've actually learnt a lot about the country though these novels whilst enjoying the haphazard and ultimately disastrous exploits of the ex journalist cum PI cum alcoholic Starkey. This stir is fast paced, hilariously tragic and whilst I knew the guessed at the ultimate end, there are so many twists in the novel it didn't matter. In fact if the ending had been any different it wouldn't have been a dan starjey story. Brilliant. Colin Bateman and Chris Brookmyre are my absolute crime/ dark humour favourite authors. Read them and be entertained.
