Summary
Not all lawyers are heartless....
Luke's life couldn't really get any worse. His parents have died; his family bar is failing; he's had to drop out of college; and he's now engaged in a custody battle with his grandparents over his younger brother.
Adam is a drop-dead gorgeous lawyer, representing the grandparents in the custody battle. He isn't pleased to be representing such snobby clients, and he's definitely miffed to be shipped out to the Midwest for this case. But all that changes when he meets Luke. He's handsome, charming...he gets Adam's sense of humor, and definitely deserves to win the case.
They're not supposed to even be talking to one another, much less dating, but both Adam and Luke feel a connection they can't ignore. Can they figure out a way to make it work? Or will the case - and the things they have to do to win it - tear them apart?
If you love tense, sensual, heartwarming gay romance, dive in to Fighting for You tonight.

Adorably quirky romance
Unusual circumstances brought Adam and Luke together and it was instant attraction. Though it was a tangled web they both managed to work together to balance both a working relationship and a personal one. These are two honorable men who made the most of a bad situation that led to a HEA. First time listening to Barney Parkwynne and his narration was ok. His cadence was not bad but he needs to add more inflections in his performance, change his voice and pitch so we can tell the characters apart better. The narration was also very slow, had to change the speed to 1.25 and my usual speed is 1x or 1.05. I was given this audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

A Feel Good Story
This book tells the story of Adam and Luke who meet by chance one night after closing at the local tavern. Sparks begin to fly and before long the pair are unable to resist the undeniable chemistry brewing between them. Fast forward to the next day when Luke finds out that Adam is the lawyer in charge of the custody case that could lose him his 12 year old brother.
The pair face great adversity and a court battle which almost tears them apart, before they reach their inevitable happily ever after.
I really enjoyed this story and the narration was captivating.

Wonderful story
Another great story by JP Oliver. Loved the characters and was happy to join them on their journey. Barney Parkwynne did a nice job with the narration.

Easy listen
I enjoyed this story. Luke is struggling with keeping house, bar and brother. He also has led a pretty wild life up to the point where he is forced to become responsible and not only does he do that but he is also a very upfront guy.
Adam is an attorney who is practicing law differently than he had planned. He worked hard to get his law degree and feels stuck until he has to represent his clients against Luke. When he meets Luke right from the start he isn’t sure how to deal with his attraction to Luke. He goes so far as to break the law while protecting Luke and Seth.
This is a easy listen. I enjoyed the characters. I think the story flow was consistent.

Fighting for You
I found Oliver's Fighting for you to be interesting (even if it wasn't plausible) story and the premise is what got me. I liked how the characters come together (even if it is a little quick). The performance was a bit lackluster and I would find myself not captivated or engaged in the story.

Impractical, but sweet
This was a really cute story, but lacked all practicality.
Adam is an attorney who is hired by a set of grandparents in a custody dispute. His firm sends him from NY to Chicago to serve the court papers to Luke, but ends up making out with him instead.
When they figure out what is going on between them, Adam decides to help Luke by finding investors for his bar, asking his best friend to be his attorney, and basically throwing his entire case.
While the story was fun and light and the characters were cute, there's just no way that a lawyer would ever do this. It just really seemed implausible.

Good storyline
I like the story line but I don’t care for the 3rd party point of view. It makes it hard for me to follow. I had to rewind a few times to listen again. I even sped up the narration to help. Luke was very bold when first meeting Adam and I’m not really into that either. I like the morals of the characters. The parents died so Luke is taking care of his younger brother. MM. narration is good.

Court battle leads to romance
I loved the way Luke and Adam met and how Adam realized he was clearly on the wrong side of the custody battle. These two were incredible together and would clearly make a wonderful home for Luke's brother, much better than Luke's grandparents. The grandparents were wonderfully set up as antagonists. Barney Parkwynne's performance was great. He caught all the emotional nuances and the heat between Luke and Adam perfectly.

Sadly not for me
The chemistry between Luke and Adam was ok.
Personally, there were several things that made this story too far fetched; Adam helping his opposition being the main one. Luke’s brother’s role was minimum even though Luke was supposed to be fighting to keep him.
Sadly, this one wasn’t my cup of tea.
