Summary
The complete series 1-5 of the thrilling mystery series. On sabbatical from the Franciscan order, Father Paolo Baldi is working as a philosophy lecturer in Dublin when his life takes an unexpected turn and he finds himself helping the police to solve crimes.
Along with Tina, Paolo uncovers the truth behind the killings of several rockabilly band members, a high-profile case of a police officer’s murder, as well as delving into the highly competitive world of celebrity chefs. He also exposes a rift in a community of environmental activists, enters the world of romantic poetry to solve a suspected suicide, investigates the killing of a politically-incorrect figurehead, and finds that the death of a homeless man is not as simple as it appears.
Follow the priest-cum-sleuth’s thrilling adventures as he solves mysteries throughout Ireland.
David Threlfall, Tina Kellegher and T.P. McKenna star in this exciting series written by Simon Brett, Bill Murphy, Andrew Martin, Martin Meenan, John Murphy and Francis Turnly in the series created by Barry Devlin.

Really enjoyable series
A very enjoyable BBC drama series. David Threlfall is fabulous as the reluctant priest turned academic turned detective. His gentle delivery makes the main character thoroughly loveable. The supporting cast are all great fun. I was sad to get to the final one.

Good short stories
Never heard of these previously, but well acted and produced, getting better as they develop. Stories not over taxing and a good length fo listen to while cooking!

A pleasant surprise as other reviews put me off. Thoroughly enjoying the stories which are well written and acted. Perfect detective fare for those that like short stories.

enjoyable stories
I've listened to these stories on BBC and always enjoy them. Unfortunately they're not in order, which is confusing. In the middle there's a story where Dr. Baldi decides to go back the church, then the stories carry on with him helping the Gardi. Couldn't someone have checked this? Please don't let this put you off listening, they're interesting light entertainment.

Excellent!
For anyone who is a fan of the Father Brown mysteries, you will find pleasure in this. Move post war Kembleford to 1990s and slightly beyond Dublin with a cast of contemporary characters and add the unworldly but fiercely questioning mind of Paolo Baldi and you have a very entertaining series of stories. David Threlfall is a delight and the distinctive voice of TP McKenna as his ecclesiastical boss conjures up a vivid picture . The rest of the cast are extremely good. These will be more than a one time listen for me.
