Summary
She had her life all planned out; fate had other ideas.
How did an accomplished Southern businesswoman, wife, and mother end up living on California’s Central Coast, newly divorced, working for a stubborn winemaker and wrestling with sudden psychic powers?
Megan Carpenter asks herself that same question nearly every day.
She’s working her way back to the business world and starting her own event-planning business, but fate keeps throwing Megan curveballs. Her ex has an unexpected new girlfriend, her telekinetic powers keep short-circuiting, and her self-control—at least when it comes to her boss, Nico Dusi—is slipping.
Thank goodness she has the two best friends in the world. With Katherine and Toni at her side, Megan is determined to keep her plans on track even when an unexpected theft at the winery threatens the new business she’s building.
When Nico asks Megan, Toni, and Katherine for help finding the thief, life in Moonstone Cove gets even more mind-bending with experimental grape clones, industrial espionage, and bizarre bloodstains. Even for three psychic friends, this mystery may be more than they can handle on their own.
Fate Interrupted is the third book in Moonstone Cove, a paranormal women’s fiction series by USA Today best seller Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Glimmer Lake series and the Elemental Legacy.

Theft, Betrayal, Murder, and Wine – Intoxicating!
I’m already a big fan of Elizabeth Hunter’s paranormal stories and love her writing style. Her books tick all the boxes for me. An intelligent writing style that’s easy to read. Protagonists with personality traits that feel credible. A range of supporting characters that earn their place in the story. Plots and settings that feel believable – even when based in a paranormal world. And finally, a balanced mix of relationship, tension, action, humour and mystery in the plotline.
Ava Lucas is a great narrator and fast becoming one of my favourites.
Ava has narrated many of Elizabeth Hunter’s books including her other PWF series, Glimmer Lake. She manages to personify each and every character by adjusting her voice accordingly. Ava’s performance always seems to enhance my enjoyment of a story rather than detract from it. The pace at which she reads the narrative is great, adding just the right amount of emotion to her performance to transport me into each scene. The different voices Ava created for each character in this series added another level of credibility to the dialogue and also ensured that I never got lost during the many conversations. I love the one she created for Megan, especially when Megan is talking to her inner slut, Sugar! 😂💚😂
I love the different relationships featured in this story.
The evolving friendships between Megan, Toni, and Katherine has become the solid foundation that each woman needed. Baxter, Katherine’s “unicorn” husband, continues to support Katherine and the team as well as Henry, Toni’s adorable boyfriend. We should all have a Baxter or Henry in our lives. 🥰 Megan’s outgoing personality and inquisitive nature were put centre stage in this story. I loved learning more about her; her history and her family back in Atlanta.
I’d recommend Fate Interrupted to anyone who enjoys stories about the value of strong, healthy friendships.
As a menopausal woman, I love that the Moonstone Cove series has older protagonists and supporting characters. About bloody time! Woohoo! However, I think that any adult reader can connect to the varied range of characters in this audiobook: Those readers who enjoy thrillers with danger, twists and unexpected surprises. But who also crave second coming-of-age adventures for older, independent, capable women. And appreciate a generous helping of banter, humour and realistic issues for the over 40s within a paranormal mystery.
I’ll be listening to all three of the stories in Moonstone Cove again and again.
