Summary

Some years ago, Cyrus Barker matched wits with Sebastian Nightwine, an aristocrat and sociopath, and in exposing his evil, sent Nightwine fleeing to hide from justice somewhere in the far corners of the earth. The last thing Barker ever expected was to encounter Nightwine again - but the British government, believing they need Nightwine's help, has granted him immunity for his past crimes, and brought him back to London.

Nightwine, however, has more on his mind than redemption - and as Barker and Llewellyn set out to uncover and thwart Nightwine's real scheme, they find themselves in the gravest danger of their lives.

Another great story

I love these stories set in Victorian London !! Some of the accents leave a little to be desired !! But if you can listen past that the stories are fab !!

No real mystery

As with a lot of sherlock Holmes style crime fiction stories we get the skilled detective and his some what slow assistant. Here the assistant Thomas is so slow witted so stupid that it is a surprise he can dress himself. He is so stupid it detracts from the story as he doesn't see the obviously and makes mistake after mistake.

Young Adult?

I listened to most of this, but lost interest and didn't finish. It's quite well written but very formulaic and therefore rather uninteresting. I found the writing style simplistic and repetitive, overall it felt like a children's story.
The narration is adequate, though rather patronising. Accents are not the narrator's strongest skill.
