About this listen
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan continues her sexy new contemporary stand-alone series with a broken heart and the shattered soul that can heal them both.
Macon Brady remembers every moment he lay on the ground, a bullet in his chest, his life bleeding out with each pulse. Yet his nightmares aren’t the only thing keeping him up at night.
Dakota Bristol left her ex with nothing but the clothes on her back and her child in her arms. She’s been hurt before and wants nothing to do with the shadows in Macon’s eyes. The problem? Her son loves him, and the more time she spends with the man, the more she’s afraid she’ll come to love him just as much.
Danger always comes back to haunt those who run. It was a lesson Dakota learned before. Now, it might be the man she refuses to fall for who makes the greatest sacrifice of all.

Absolutely loved it but not sure about the main character name
Book 3 in the Promise Me series by Carrie Ann Ryan.
Macon is a Brady member and a veterinarian with his own shared practice. In previous book he was shot badly and is struggling with ptsd and the help with that he get in ring and fights. He’s secretly liked Dakota for a long time but she’s always had a don’t approach vibe until Dakota reaches out to him.
Dakota has been through a lot and has many secrets but when Macon makes his intentions to her she realises she needs him as much as he needs her.
I absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan and personally can not get any better for romance but with really great characters, I love that her characters are very real with their on illnesses or issues like Nate’s migraines or Arden’s lupus illness. My only issue in book was when the narrator said Macon name and it came out more like bacon to me but other then that can’t get enough of this series.

I loved this book so much! Single parent, hurt/comfort, enemies to lovers and the right amount of suspense. I actually haven't listened to the first book of this series where Macon gets shot and almost dies so if you are in the same position as me, I suggest you do listen to the first book. Even though this can be read as a stand alone, I feel like I was missing out on a good chunk of the story to fill in the pieces. Dakota’s hate for Macon also confused me for a better part of the story. I couldn't understand why and other than her son and his fighting, well, I still don't get it🤣.
This book kept me on edge though with Dakota’s ex playing games and just the suspense when waiting for something big to happen. Everything works out, of course, but it was still a thrilling, riveting ride, getting at that HEA.
