About this listen
When you're a star athlete and hire a bodyguard to protect your daughter, but the agency sends you an adorable five foot two brunette who barely looks capable of protecting herself, let alone anyone else.
Turns out "Ryan" is Emerson Ryan, former FBI. She drop-kicks your butt to the ground to prove her point. She’s more than capable of protecting Bristol, your little girl, but you shouldn’t be turned on by her fierceness.
Everyone thinks she’s your daughter’s nanny, including Bristol. Emerson looks the part and goes along with it at your insistence until she's forced to be your daughter's babysitter. With a professional hockey career on the line, you need Emerson by your side. But questions will arise the moment you hire a "second" nanny for Bristol, and you don't want to worry your daughter about the threat to her safety.
The next best thing? Hire Emerson as your fake girlfriend. She can protect Bristol, and you get a little extra publicity when the news learns about your spicy romance. But how long can you pretend everything is fake when the sparks are real? This steamy hockey romance book features a grumpy single dad and sizzling romance with plenty of drama.
No cheating. Stand-alone. HEA.

Different, funny and strong female
I like that the female was a strong character who could kick some ass if she needed to. Bristol was hilarious. Good love story with a nice HEA!

Some good and bad
I could be alone in this review, but, I think it could’ve been better. The bones were there, it had the makings of a good story, we’ve got a billionaire Ice Hockey player, badass petite female bodyguard, deception, villainous options and more
Spoilers below:
The bodyguard angle could’ve been a bigger part, maybe more insight into her investigations, her expertise and general badassery.
The relationship was 0-100 with a bit of whiplash from then until the end of the book - There was plenty of time to build a bit of tension and not lose the smut. In all, I didn’t believe the relationship which is a pity.
The mafia angle was interesting but maybe with some more details like the bodyguard trying to get samples of their handwriting, along with the nanny and everyone on the team, the hockey wives or something - The handwriting could’ve used an extra mention once the culprit was caught.
The sexual harassment from the hockey boss was well-ish executed, but her reaction was spot on.
The hockey wives were poised to be gossips which was just nipped in the bud at the food drive, a missed opportunity for suspense. Our bodyguard badass was in the FBI, more insight into her acceptance of their female camaraderie would’ve been great.
The bio-mum just had a random appearance and left.
Anyway, this book isn’t a waste of time but it really could’ve been better. If I believed their relationship it wouldn’t have been so disappointing.
