About this listen

A bloodied and bruised girl runs out of the woods and into the path of oncoming traffic. The police are shocked to discover that she's a missing schoolgirl they've been trying to find for the past three weeks. Traumatized by her ordeal, she's unable to tell them what happened to her.

A woman's body is found crucified in a barn on the Yorkshire Moors. Evidence found at the crime scene links her to the schoolgirl.

Hot on the heels of a commendation for her work on a serial killer case, Detective Inspector Danica Summers is invited to join an elite task force specializing in the investigation of high-profile crimes. Concerned that she's only been invited because she's good PR, Dani is desperate to prove that she's worthy of her place on the team.

When the case involving the missing schoolgirl and the murdered woman is taken on by the newly-formed Murder Force, Dani is touched by the vulnerability of the victims and is determined to capture the monster who ruined their lives.

Her search for justice will take her to the heart of darkness.

The narrator ruined this for me. She speaks bizarrely making ahhhh noises at the end of words. She sounds incredulous all the time. It’s such as shame as I think the book would have been so much better with a different narrator.

Interesting story

A good story but the narrator was terrible. When she was speaking dialog she was OK, but otherwise her intonation was terrible. I almost gave up because of the irritating word-stresses and drawn-out vowels at the ends of words.

Terrible narration

I am sure the narrator has a regional accent because the Yorkshire accents were good but when she was talking “posh” the effort was very plain. The give away was the word BOOK! Heaven knows why that word should trip up so many people who try to disguise their origins but it invariably does.
Lucys voice was very pleasant but the story was ruined by her attempt at “posh”. Doesn’t anyone review these Audio Books in house before they are released?
Also,I don’t like the “because you listened to………..” add ons. It’s really, really annoying!!!!!!

The appalling narration made listening hard.

The story was interesting, but the narration was odd - as someone said like Nigella! Really weird and kinda spoils the story.

Interesting story but painful narration
