About this listen
The primary election is almost here, and Avery Shaw is in her glory. Her boss has unleashed her on the leading candidates - including two of whom she downright loathes - and Macomb County's leading reporter (and pot-stirrer extraordinaire) is about to turn the election on its ear.
She just needs to find a story first.
When her nemesis, Tad Lancaster, loses a volunteer, Avery sniffs out a bigger story...or at least she thinks she does. She has a pile of documents, too many insidious ideas to wrangle, and a long-suffering boyfriend who can do nothing but shake his head.
Avery is determined to find out the truth, even if it doesn't lead to Lancaster's downfall. She only has a limited time to do it, too, and the clock is ticking down to election day.
In short order, Avery has to uncover a pile of financial corruption, irritate her co-workers to the point where they don't want to steal her story, hook her ex-boyfriend up with a new girlfriend, survive family dinner, convince her boyfriend she's not chasing ghosts but rather something that's really there, and save Macomb County's election process for the people.
Oh, she also needs to figure out a way to avoid a baby shower, too.
It's all in a day's work for one hard-working and fast-talking reporter. She just needs to survive the final showdown to prove to everyone exactly how superior she really is.

Avery Shaw continues to entertain
I'm a fan of Avery Shaw - by far the best series by this author (I've foudn the others patchy, and disturbing in some cases) but the Avery Shaw books are consistently entertaining, and this one is no exception.

Great listen going back to old favourite
I have listened to this out of order so it was a bit weird it was however like going back to a familiar and happy series. I could just relax into it. I could not imagine Avery Shaw having a different voice, Angel Clark does such a great narration.

Extra snarky
Okay, Avery is back and while the mystery was interesting I am still not a big fan of the main character, who's big mouth gets her in trouble, good job she is not a tv journalist. Sometimes this can be amusing like when her boyfriend manages to out think her but other times she Just likes to argue and there is a lot of dialogue that just goes around in circles and doesn't get anywhere. The mystery takes a long time to get going and to be honest I think the author forgets that there is a murder, she is so caught up in the drama of the election. However I still find myself downloading the next book.
The local elections have arrived and Avery Shaw is looking to find a story and annoy her ex boyfriend who is one of the candidates. When a body is discovered that is connected to the election she know she is on to something and somebody has a secret that they are trying to hide. Can Avery annoy it out of them or just make herself a target for a killer?
I am still not sure the narrator is right for the part, she makes Avery sound like she is whining all the time and I am not sure that she is ment to.
