Summary

Just days before the running of the biggest thoroughbred horse race in the world, an act of bioterrorism kills Kentucky's lieutenant governor, and former FBI Special Agent Brooke Fairfax receives a video of the murder from her long-time anonymous source. When Brooke discovers domestic terrorists are actually after the governor - her late husband's brother - and that the radicals are eyeing more targets, she heads to Kentucky to stop the threat.

Shortly after the political assassination, the FBI zeroes in on one person: international mogul Declan O'Roark. Though Brooke has been out of the game since her husband was murdered, her former boss thinks she is the perfect candidate to connect Declan to the crime. Despite the FBI clearly establishing means and opportunity, Declan remains unfazed; his motives have nothing to do with murder, but with getting closer to Brooke Fairfax. And Brooke finds the case becoming even more unclear as she falls for the FBI's number-one suspect.

Poor narrator

The female narrator had an awful reading voice - very flat and soporific but her attempts at Irish and Scottish accents were just hideous. Come on audible, do better!

Enjoyable

I came across this book by chance, I thoroughly enjoyed it. it's a cross between a love story and a crime thriller. I will definitely be looking out for more by Heather Sunseri.

Poor Narrator

Character voices from female narrator inconsistent. Multiple times sounded computer generated voice. I stayed with it, but would not recommend

Disappointing

I couldn’t complete the book, the readers idea of a Scot’s or Irish accent was awful, l also felt that she muddled them up at times consequently l lost the plot.

Good story. keeps the readers enthralled

Pity about the pronunciations. Terrible enough to spoil the story - America needs to realise Europeans listen to audible too.

Not my cuppa tea.

Struggled through this book it was a bore. The female Narrator should never attempt an irish, scottish or Eastern European accent ! Come on Audible do better.

Fool's Errand

Good dual narration written by someone who doesn't know a filly from a colt and that they don't change sex in the middle of a training session. The greatest horseraces in the world don't take place in the US (the Epsom Derby and the Aintree Grand National are the most watched races in the world take place in England). Stallions who win at Epsom go on to sire champions all over the world, usually go on to best studs in Ireland. So it's strange an Irishman "billionaire" chooses to train in Kentucky.

I don't know about the FBI facts, but if they are as haphazard as the equines ones, this tale is a Fool's errand.

LAUGHABLE AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY
