About this listen
Escape from Milltown is a novel best classified as historical fiction. This audiobook chronicles the life of James McIllwane, a gifted athlete and a child of poor cotton-mill workers. His paternal grandfather and family are bigger-than-life second- and third-generation Irish immigrants who play a significant role in McIllwane's years growing up.
The maternal side of his family pushes him and helps him become a highly sought-after Major League baseball pitcher. Almost ready to claim his place in baseball fame and have the opportunity to leave his small-town roots and the emotional and intellectual baggage it had left in him, Jimmy McIllwane has all his dreams shattered by a serious injury that leaves him with few options to physically or emotionally escape from Milltown.
When he finally finds his future and both physically and mentally escapes from Milltown, McIllwane begins a second chapter in his life, which is chronicled in the sequel, Call Me Deaconblue.
Escape from Milltown and Call Me Deaconblue are audiobooks one and two of a three-part trilogy titled Sins and Salvation.
