Great except the music

Whether you are long standing fan of Sir ACD or a new convert, in my opinion, this was a great little series and well worth the listen as you will always learn something new… and I did. Nice bite sized timed episodes to listen individually or binge out like I did in one go on my morning walk. Really good, interesting and well balanced content and excellently presented… except the infuriating music… don’t get me wrong, the music suited the theme and I liked tune but you do not need it playing almost constantly in the background. So distracting when playing directly into my earphones. E.g. When the great Bill Paterson is talking.. why the music? So dropped a star for that alone. But everyone else was superb, the game is afoot! Will definitely listen again.

Worth the listen... however!

Interesting and insightful, thoroughly worth listening too however I found the continuous repetition of some of the content tedious.

LIght and entertaining

Entertaining and interesting, considering I got it for free. As with other Audible original series (eg. Victorian Secrets), it is well produced and a bit light in content, with a lot of repetition in the teaser at the beginning and the end of each episode, which would be annoying in paid content but is quite alright here. I enjoyed the quality production, the original content (recordings of Doyle and his daughter and interviews with his descendants) and the readings from Doyle's works (by Stephen Fry and Dervla Kirwan). As a marketing tool to sell the audible recordings of Doyle's works or the book by Lucinda Hawksley, I think it offers you a nice selection of tidbits and curiosities about the great author.

Boring and chaotic

No logical structure, very little actual content, lots of audible fluff - this show is boring, chaotic and a big waste of time. If this would have been a TV documentary maybe it would have made a bit of sense, all the digressions being filled by some visual narrative, but as an audio show it's just awful.

Great story ruined by background music

So unnecessary to have monotonous orchestral clamouring in the background.
Did someone think the narrative was too boring to stand up on its own?
Performance * is for the music as couldn’t put no stars
