Summary

The sparky relationship of a couple working undercover at a posh Florida resort may get them killed before they find the secret casino they are hunting. Things get worse when the target criminal's wife recognizes one of the cops as her policeman ex-boyfriend. Will she rat them out or keep their dangerous secret?

Greg Hallstead lost the championship buckle to Terry McCaskill at this year's Policemen's Rodeo. Now, he's partnered with his rival, working undercover at a Florida resort while sparks fly between them at every turn.

Greg and Terry are unconvincing as a brother/sister duo, but even less convincing are the cops pretending to be their "parents": a gay "dad" and sexy, flirty "mom".

Still, the four cops may survive, if the resort owner's wife, Emerald, doesn't reveal she dated Greg years ago. And if a hotel hooker doesn't recognize him from past arrests. And if "dad" and "mom" will stop flirting with the same man.

If they can't keep their secrets, all four cops will soon be shark bait off the Florida coast.

A little gem

I enjoyed this very unusual and quirky mystery. With all the amateur sleuths out there it was nice to listen to a book that was set around a group of cops and there investigation. The story is fairly short but the author packs a lot into the story and not just with regard to the investigation. The backstory also made Greg more like able, who until then just seemed like a play boy..I liked the fact that they were undercover and all the humours situations that arose from it. I did like the characters but did wonder if they were undercover in such a dangerous situation and for just the weekend why couldn't they act more professional, glad they didn't though because it wouldn't have been half has funny. The investigation wasn't really a mystery as you knew who the badie was and it was more just four very unlike people working together to find a hidden room. Still for some reason I did enjoy it and would get the next book.
Ladies man Greg is on track to win his fourth buckle in a row at the rodeo championship but he gets called to back up his police partner and when he arrives to ride the bull, it is to find he finally has some competition. Getting unseated is never easy but it is even worse when you turn to work and find you have to work with the competition. Four cops have been hand picked to work together and play happy families as they try to find the underground casino at a local resort. Greg has to play a gay son while his pretend father actually is gay. But the biggest problem is with the cop picked to play his sister because despite there rivalry sparks between them start to fly. Then the targets girlfriend walks into the room and Greg realises that his last life could mean the end of his current one. Will his ex girlfriend out him as a cop or will they be able to get the information they need before anybody gets hurt?
I liked the narrator she used different voices to bring life to the story and make it interesting.
