Summary

Simple story, great production

The play (in German) is quite short and moves along quickly, and it feels at times like you're just getting the highlights of the original story. At various points, heavy hints are given that years have passed. But it is a great production that keeps you interested, and the two main characters are played excellently. The part of Effi Briest herself is very convincingly played. For me, it was a great introduction to the story of the novel in one short play. I can now feel more confident about reading the novel itself.
