This book had a hold on me

Omg I was not expecting to love this book. I found it pretty silly at first with a bonkers plot which is completely unbelievable but I actually loved it. At first I wasn’t keen on the narration because I thought she was a bit whiny but as soon as I got into it I couldn’t stop listening. I love the characters, it’s total escapism and gets quite steamy. I stayed up two nights in a row till like 4am listening to this, have been thinking about it ever since.

unexpected

I didn't expect to like this book but it turned out to be a well laid out storyline keeping my interest through out.

Yes there are elements of being taught how to please a man but as this is what the leading female Elizabeth asks of the leading male character, and is the reason both character's remain together I fail to understand how the book could have been written without scenes of a sexual nature.

the book flowed well and well impressed in which the way it was narrated.

pleased over all and looking forward to see what will happen to the other characters.

Outstanding

Beautifully narrated, great accents. Fab historical romance - a change to have an intelligent and lively lead female, gets quite saucy in parts but some good suspense too.
One of the best books I've listened to in a long time, definitely be getting the series, the author and narrator partnership is very good.

An excellent story narrated perfectly with confidence and skill. I will carry on to the next book with confidence that both the tale and its execution will be 5 star. 💖💖💖💖💖

Liberal sprinklings of sex

Kate Pearce writes well and Juliet Maisey 's performance is good. It's an unlikely story but still quite enjoyable.

Entertaining and titillating tosh

Entertaining tosh with loads of sex. Massive plotholes - so much trouble could have been avoided if the characters just shared information with each other instead of keeping each other in the dark. Also when we find out who the assassin is, there seems no reason for any coded messages. As I said, entertaining and titillating tosh.

An enjoyable read

Elizabeth Waterstone, complying with her stepfather’s command, has to work in the household of the Duc de Diablo Delamer to pay off his gambling debts. Once the Duc discovers she’s not been sent there as a prostitute they find another way in which she can comply with her stepfather’s wishes, one involving spies, codes an assassination plots.
I found the story a little flimsy at first but it got better.
The narrator’s use of accents was good and the whole narration was well done.

Not bad.

Once you have suspended belief that the two main characters would have come to such an agreement in 1814, the story is not bad. The narration is first class.
