About this listen
Framed for a crime she didn't commit, a wrongly-imprisoned space captain's only chance at freedom is to abduct a fearsome alien war commander.
Sub-Captain Eve Traynor knows a suicide mission when she sees one. With deadly insectoid aliens threatening to invade Earth, the planet's only chance of survival is to get the attention of the fierce Eon Warriors. But the Eon want nothing to do with Earth, and Eve wants nothing to do with abducting War Commander Davion Thann-Eon off his warship. But when Earth's Space Corps threaten her sisters, Eve will do anything to keep them safe, even if it means she might not make it back.
War Commander Davion Thann-Eon is taking his first vacation in years. Dedicated to keeping the Eon Empire safe, he's been born and bred to protect. But when he's attacked and snatched off his very own warship, he is shocked to find himself face-to-face with a bold, tough little Terran warrior. One who both infuriates and intrigues him.
When their shuttle is attacked by the ravenous insectoid Kantos, Eve and Davion crash-land on the terrifying hunter planet known as Hunter7, designed to test a warrior to his limits. Now, the pair must work together to survive, caught between the planet and its dangers, the Kantos hunting them down, and their own incendiary attraction.

The Book
Wow! A totally awesome, action packed and steamy rollercoaster Sci-Fi adventure romance that had me on the edge of my seat...
OMG, Anna Hackett has done it again! 'Edge of Eon', the first book in her brand new Science Fiction Romance series Eon Warriors is filled to the brim with adrenaline pumping action that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, proving once again why she's one of my all-time favourite authors, regardless of genre. Whilst 'Edge of Eon' isn't exactly what I'd call a romance, the primary setting, Hunter 7, really doesn't allow for that, it is very definitely a love story... forged in adversity, with a truly life or death struggle against ugly bug aliens who want to rule the galaxy, on a planet that's been specifically created to try to kill you... but despite all that, the main characters still manage to find a time and place to indulge in a little steamy action of their own.... and gain an unexpected friend... I absolutely loved this book!!!!
Where to begin? That's probably the easy part, but without giving spoilers? That's a toughie of the first order! The main players in this Universe of the future are split, naturally, into the good guys and the bad guys. Fighting for the good guys are the Terrans, obviously from Earth, and the mostly warrior Eon, a species that shares a common ancestor with humans, but first contact about thirty years ago was so undisciplined and chaotic on the part of the Terrans that the old King of the Eon Empire severed all contact and banned them from ever entering Eon space. Then there are the bad guys, who really are ugly bugs in various forms and make up the insectoid Kantos race. They're greedy and destructive, wage war like swarms of locusts and have ambitions to rule the galaxy, starting with Earth. They plan to strip the planet of everything including their new food source - humans. The Kantos have been nipping at Earth's territories since they first noticed it's existence and are building up to a major attack. Earth needs help... but their methods of going about getting that help leave a lot to be desired!
Space Corps Sub-Captain Eve Traynor has spent all of her adult life in Space Corps and in return for her loyalty and dedication what did she get... stabbed in the back and used as a scapegoat! Now, to add insult to injury, they're using the lives of her beloved sisters and the promise of freedom to force her into what can only be described as a suicide mission into Eon space. The plan was simple, kidnap Davion Thann-Eon, the best War Commander the Eon have and bring him back to Terran space. Executing the plan..... not so much... and that's where I'm going to stop before I give too many spoilers.
I absolutely loved this frequently humorous, adrenaline pumping, steamy in more ways than one, all action space adventure and can't wait to read the others in this series. The main characters are tough as nails fighters with the occasional soft spot for the people they love as well as one that really shouldn't have existed, but I adored Shaggy in all his guises and I'm still trying to work my brain around what happened with him, and more importantly, how! I eventually decided the planet was lonely and wanted a friend.... no, you'll have to read the book. I'd love to know what conclusions, if any, other readers came to about the apparent impossibility of Shaggy, may he have a long and happy life. There is a true mate happily ever after here and although not a cliff-hanger ending, towards the end of the book there is a lead in to 'Touch of Eon', book 2 of the series which involves Eve's elder sister Lara. I'm totally hooked and devoured this terrific story with relish. I've given it what feels like a measly 5 stars and really wish I could give it more, maybe Amazon could add a + or something. I'd give it loads of those! I've added 'Edge of Eon' to my list of books I'd rescue if the house was burning down and I'm sure I'll be reading it again in the not too distant future. It's also on my 'read again' list where I'm pretty sure it'll join all my other Anna Hackett books as permanent residents. Since originally writing this review, I've re-read this book at least three times, as well as listened to the audio book.
The Audio
I got this as an ebook when it was first published, and I'll freely admit that I've read it a few times since then, but I now have intermittent problems with my eyes, so I've turned to audio books to fill my need to re-read my favourites. I did try audio books a few years ago, but the narration was so bad, even dreadful, that I gave up on them for a while, however, Anna Hackett seems to get significantly better narrators than some I've listened to and Vivienne Leheny, the narrator of this book is pretty good, actually, one of the best I've heard. She seems to understand the all action, gritty nature of both the characters and the story, maintaining the edginess to the very end. She really is very good, I wasn't disappointed in any way, so I got all the other books in the series that are available as audio versions to back up my kindle versions, just so I don't get withdrawal symptoms when I can't read them. The audio versions also have the added bonus of allowing me to do other things whilst listening. I find I listen a lot more than I read these days and have already listened to this one several times since getting it. I was lucky enough to get a free code for this audio book, and as I had already posted an honest review of the ebook several years ago, I decided to update that review with my personal opinion of the audible narration, especially as I have been so disenchanted by audio books in the past.

Too over the top
Have been spoilt reading fun sci-fi romps of Laurann Dohner's Cyborg series, so I expected a similar book based on the blurb. After almost an hour, where practically every other word uttered by the female is f*ck, the story was so poor, the narration was so over dramatic making almost every statement sound like a cliff-hanger could not continue one minute more.
Save yourself 6hrs, find another book.
