Fantastic
Brilliant as are all Joy’s books, love all the different series. I will wait patiently for the next book in the series. I live on the Fens so listening to these books is very special and somehow they feel like home for me

Almost spoiled by narrator
Love Joy’s books and very invested in this series. However the narrator is totally wrong. Her RP is quite grating and she is hopeless at regional accents. The Welsh one was particularly awful. I persevered out of loyalty but it wasn’t an easy listen!

Complex and excellent
Love all the characters I’ve known and loved for some time now, it was nice to hear of others from the Jackman series too. The story was very complex and I adore Henrietta’s narration. The characters feel like friends now.

Great story, less great narrative…
I love the whole series and have listened to each one avidly, however the narrator made some mistakes on this one…making Marie Evan’s sound SCOTTISH being the biggest. Smaller stuff like mixing a radio and a phone up. Maybe I’m being too picky, but I’ll still follow on regardless! I follow the other interlinked series too, keep them all coming!

Another cracking tale
I've waited ages for this and it certainly didn't disappoint, great plot with a few twists and turns, had me gripped every night at bedtime, I couldn't wait to go to bed to lay and listen 😴

Typical Nikki Galena but….
Typical Nikki Galena with lots of twists and turns but perhaps more could have been made of tying up the several loose ends in the few chapters. It all seemed solved much too tidily and wrapped up in a few sentences no matter how left field the solution was.

Good story - new narrator rather spoils it
Have read every Joy Ellis book with great pleasure (and most of them on audible.). Having waited in anticipation for this book, I loved the story but was disappointed in the narration. Narrator sounds like she went to the same school as the Princess of Wales. There are hardly any of the usual local accents. Please think about this next time as think people will be disappointed too. The narrator would be excellent in a middle class, London -centric story.

Loved this one.
Three days. Three murders. No leads . . . except for Nikki’s mother.
The call comes at 6.30 a.m. Widowed Angela Sandford has been found dead in her expensively-furnished bungalow. An overdose, it would appear.
But to Detective Nikki it doesn’t add up. Angela was planning a holiday next month. The trip of a lifetime. She had everything to live for.
The following night there’s another death on Nikki’s patch. A fatal hit-and-run. A young woman deliberately mown down as she picked up a takeaway fish supper.
The next day, a third suspicious death. The dead man is found sprawled on the dining room floor in his grand old house, blood soaking into the carpet.
And Nikki’s mother was the last person to see him alive.
In each case, there is no clue, no motive and no suspect. It’s up to Nikki and her team to find the link before more people die.
The Setting
The Lincolnshire Fens: great open skies brood over marshes, farmland, and nature reserves. It is not easy terrain for the Fenland Constabulary to police: with remote Fen villages, dangerous and often misty lanes, and poor telephone coverage. There are still villages where the oldest residents have never set foot outside their own farmland. A visit to the nearest town is a major event. But it has a strange airy beauty to it, and above it all are the biggest skies you’ve ever seen.
My comments:
Really enjoyed this book, I am a huge fan of this series and it's been grate to see how Nikki and Joseph have developed over the series. This was full of twists and I had no idea who the killer was. Nikki and Joseph are well developed characters and the rest of there team are fantastic supporting characters. This book was also very fast pace and the audible version was well narrated.
