Summary

I just sped across the galaxy to a strange planet,

upgraded my first alien racer girl,

and now will race to my inevitable death.

I, Lorean Michaels, a budding stunt driver, just travelled back home after my father's passing to find I was left a unique vehicle. Never did I think that very car would take me places beyond my wildest dreams. Now, I must protect a team of high-octane women, unlock transformations, and ultimately win their freedom.

However, there is something more than just ravenous racers wanting me dead in twisted metal fashion: Perhaps winning isn't everything I had imagined.

Driver Mach 1 is a rush of LitRPG and Harem flavors harking back to M.A.S.K., Transformers, and Back to the Future. Crunchy character stats are present, with most being consolidated into a quick view feature with endnotes.

awesome read

filled to the brim with 80s references a thoroughly enjoyable listen, looking forward to a second and third listen. MC has the feel of Burt Reynolds crossed with the dukes of hazard. really enjoyed it even more than I thought I would.

Another great LitRPG series.

I’ve been listening to litRPG books for a year or two now so I’m always interested when a new author/narrator/series is brought to my attention.

It was the narrator who popped up in my Reddit feed this time. I popped over to Audible and listened to the sample. I didn’t even finish the sample before I downloaded the book.

I have a few series that I’m working through and had actually finished the latest book in one series just before finding out about this one, so the timing was perfect.

I’ve now got a new series to add to my regular listening.

The writing is great, the narration is great, the production is great. One nice touch is the reverb added when a voice is supposedly coming from a loudspeaker.

The characters are well formed and as new characters are introduced you quickly feel the appropriate emotions depending on their part in the story.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by both the author and the narrator. It won’t be my last from either. I’ve already got a few lined up in my wish list for the next space in my reading cycle.

Great work all around.
