About this listen

An extravagant sum of money. A brand new car. An extended stay in a luxurious farmhouse. All this to aid a mysterious stranger in a years-old quest to realize a life-long dream.

Teenage runaway Josh Keegan first discovers the ad pinned to a bulletin board in a neighborhood coffee house. He then finds it listed in the classifieds section of a weekly newspaper. It almost seems as though the ad, as well as the mysterious stranger who placed it, are following him through the icy city streets.

What Josh doesn’t realize is that phoning a response to this bizarre request will forever change his life and his mental state. When he is taken to the remote farmhouse, Josh doesn’t know how far he’ll have to go or how far he’s willing to go to earn his prize.

Most frighteningly of all, he has no idea how much he is going to enjoy it. What begins as a test of emotional strength quickly becomes an oft-sought privilege, finally culminates into an overpowering addiction - an addiction Josh will do anything to satisfy.

From the author of Plaything comes a dark and twisted experiment in the macabre - one that pushes boundaries and leaves the listener haunted by a barrage of deeply unsettling images.

Dreams of Sharp Teeth is a fairy tale darker and more grim than anything Brandon Ford has previously written. It is a startling and powerful novel you won’t soon forget.

Not in the dark

Charles Mallett did a wonderful job, of narration, brings out the horror.

No listening before or after eating... or in the dark.

I couldn’t stop listening to it and it kept me in a constant state of noooo It’s a disturbing story to say the least but you will be hooked
With twist at the end.

Such a rollercoaster

Boring

i was foolish enough to request a review copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review (if I would be so kind) which is what you have here:

I listened though all the introduction to Josh, and his sob story abour his sick father (for whom I felt truly sorry along with his poor long suffering wife) and Josh's decision to flee due to his own illness becasue he can't bring himself to 'burden' his parents with the knowledge that he's basically going to die too. I carried on, I listened to the whole thing, but I was bored ALL of the time, at no time was I engaged in this story at all.

The story seems to have been inspired by the real life drama of the Armin Meiwes case, which was unpleasant indeed. I think the audible description should be adding the appropriate cautions of cannibalism but that does add a kind of spoiler but might avert possible complaints, I personally did not find that so much offensive as just boring and terribly tragic. It's not what I would describe as Horror Fiction (as it was listed when I requested the review copy)) ..... Update on this, it is now listed as Young Adult in which case I would expect a warning , no question, this is fine reading for an over 18 but dubious at best for an under 18 (and as such, should come with a Parental Warning). It's probably going to bore the average teenager to tears anyway.

The narrator was great, lovely to listen to however which was probably how I managed to finish it.
