Summary

Falling in love changes everything.

Three bad things I learned this year:

  • People you trust lie, even parents.
  • That hot guy, the one who's totally into you, might not be the one.
  • Things are not always how they appear.

Three good things I learned this year:

  • Best friends are always there for you, even when they're far away.
  • That other hot guy, the one who remembers your birthday, just might be the one.
  • Oh, and things are not always how they appear.

Anna Sanders expected an anonymous (and uneventful) senior year until she crossed paths with rich and sexy Jack Kyser and his twin sister, Lucy. Pulling Anna into their extravagant lifestyle on the Gulf Coast, Lucy pushed Anna outside her comfort zone, and Jack showed her feelings she'd never experienced - until he mysteriously withdrew.

Anna turned to her internship at the city paper and to her old attraction to Julian, a handsome local artist and rising star, for distraction. But both led to her discovery of a decades-old secret closely guarded by the twins' distant, single father.

A secret that could permanently change all their lives.

An interesting and enjoyable first book in this series

I didn’t really know what to expect with this series, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not encountered this author before.
The story was good, with lots of plot twists and turns. I liked the thoroughness of the author in relation to the characters.
The characters were likeable and believable, but Anna annoyed me a bit by being too tolerant of Jack’s behaviour. Anna was quite young and naïve, but her adoration of him made me want to yell at her to not put up with his crap.
I was annoyed at the abrupt end of the book, and felt it could have tailed off better. I really don’t like when authors cut up stories to sell more books. It really could have been done and divided better or not at all. However, as the story was good and intriguing, I was happy to get the rest to finish. They were included, which helped.
The narrator did a first class job. Her accents and voices of the male characters were also well done.
On the whole, likeable and definitely worth the listen.

Great Series, keep going

I really enjoyed this book, great story but it just stopped, there was no ending. Most series I’ve listened to are stand-alone books and that’s what I’d expected here so I was disappointed and didn’t think I would listen to anymore. However I’d enjoyed it enough, despite the lack of ending or because of, that I was curious enough to check out the next book just to fill that blank. WOW, I’m so glad I did. The books are one continuous story and must be listened to in order,I was barely into the next book when I knew I was going to binge the lot.
Don’t be put off by the label for New Adult, it’s not about puppy love and it almost made me miss a great series. I’m in my 60’s and my usual genres are detective and romances, this series had so much suspense that my heart was bursting.
The narrators done a great job.
I didn’t write this review until I’d finished the series, I’d held back on judgement initially but half an hour into the next book and I couldn’t stop long enough to review any.
I’ve got sleep to catch-up on now but I’d love to hear more from this author.

Story builds then never quite gets there.

I was enjoying the story then it just kinda ended without gettig to the point. I gather there is another book but I feel that often a main plot can be gotten to in a book and still leave room for the characters to develop intd another book. Sadly this didn't happen and left me more dissapointed rathe@ than intrigued to continue to the next book and conclude the story. I feel overall things were dragged out & never got ther plot wise. The characters failed to develop too and the plot got confusing as the main character is interacting with the two men in her life.
