Completely entertaining and enjoyable book I have heard it many times and still enjoy the storyline.

This was my first experience of a Terry Pratchett non discworld story and I loved it.

Histrionical fantasy
Characters borrowed from Charles Dickins, but we'll insinuated in to a modern fun storey, read well by Stephen Briggs, with all the charm and grace as always. A well thought out tale touching on the horrors of the time.

1st review
Not my usual Pratchett listen, but a really good story, told incredibly well. Although not important, knowing a little of the lives and background of the society of Dickensian London adds to the story.
heartily recommend it 🙂

5 stars?
I didn't intend to give it a blasé 5 all round. I just thought about each entry and gave it what I thought. I was surprised. This IS a good story and well read. I highly recommend.

Classic Pratchett
Is it Pratchett or Dickens? It's the best of both worlds. The story is fairly simple but told and read with flair and it's a joy to come across many well-known characters, both fictional and real.

Up there with the best discworld novels!!!
I was unsure about this as it was not a discworld story and thought I might spend the whole book wishing it was. I could not have been more wrong it is absolutely superb. As always Steven Briggs narrates exactly as I would here the voices in my head, I always find with other narrators that some voices 'don't quite gel' but not with Mr Briggs. Pratchett/Briggs combo is as good (if not better) than Rowling/Fry.

Brilliant
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
What a great read, already recommended to friends and the kids, who listened with me, have raved to their friends. Great sense of history and loved the references to historical characters.
What other book might you compare Dodger to, and why?
The obvious answer is Oliver Twist, the historical setting and characters being common to both.
Have you listened to any of Steven Briggs’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Throughout the book you are made aware of the fragility of life in Victorian times and the acceptance of death.
