About this listen

Camille Coduri reads this brand new novelisation of the Ninth Doctor’s debut TV adventure. “Nice to meet you, Rose. Run for your life!”

In a lair somewhere beneath central London, a malevolent alien intelligence is plotting the end of humanity. Shop window dummies that can move – and kill – are taking up key positions, ready to strike.

Rose Tyler, an ordinary Londoner, is working her shift in a department store, unaware that this is the most important day of her life. She’s about to meet the only man who understands the true nature of the threat facing Earth, a stranger who will open her eyes to all the wonder and terror of the universe – a traveller in time and space known as the Doctor. This is the story that relaunched Doctor Who for the 21st Century, novelised by showrunner Russell T Davies from his original script. Running time: 4 hours 10 mins.

I hope they do more of these

nice to get some back stories, and to see RTD included some references to the post Rose days. I grew up on James Blish star Trek episode adaptations, so this type of novelisation is exactly what I like. Camille is always a great narrator.

Brilliant Story, Brilliant Narrator. Loved it

Spoilers

The begining of the new era for Doctor Who and some of my favourite characters. Rose, Jackie, Ricky.
This story may have been played on the small screen as the first episode of the re-invented Doctor Who, but the audio book was still exciting.
Camille Coduri is a great narrator and brings the story to life. I loved it and was sad when it ended.

Massive fan of Rose and the Doctor relationship anyway but I love how this is a fat more in depth and descriptive version of the episode itself! also loved listening to it being read by Camille, honestly thought everything about it was fantastic!

At last 😁

superb to hear new series finally getting the Target novel treatment. True to original format, the story expands from what was televised making it more enjoyable imo. Looking forward to hearing more releases very soon. excellent 🤘

Fun introduction into the target books

Great story as an introduction into the target books, this novelisation added so much to an already great story, including making Mickey Smith feel like a more warmer character and you can see why him and Rose together, there is also some trans representation which I appreciate so much.🏳️‍⚧️

Good Listen having watched the episode

I have just watched the TV episode aswell and enjoyed all the extra detail contained within this audio book. It was nice that it was Jackie the TV character reading it. I felt like I could visualise the episode.

Superb performance

A fab re-telling of a classic story. Loved it. Poignant details and little Easter eggs for tv fans but a great story in and of itself.
